Like they are doing in Denmark (check previous Slashdot stories), the attorneys scan the Kazaa network, when they find Danish Ips they check what people are sharing. Get a court order, send them a letter which essentially says "we can see you have done violations which amount to x amount of money, if you pay now you won't have to go to court". Then the newspapers are filled with sad stories, like how a single mother suddenly gets slapped with a $5000 fine because her son, unbeknownst to her, had downloaded his favorite songs. They try to scare people to stop - and none of these P2P programs have much in the way of security, you can always see the IP number. And even if they do try, people can just use the netstat command (On Windoze) to see which machines you are currently connected to. How long before they start doing something like this in the united states?
... that american geeks will now start to stream all the new TV shows, and the rest of the world will be looking over their shoulders? (While the industry starts screaming in fury?)

Which is a pity, because it was the only movie which came close to the core of what Star Trek was all about. Ie, not just space battles. But many of the kids doesn't like it (not enough action presumably)
Funny Lycos doesn't tell you HOW many have actually search... Who uses Lycos anymore? Perhaps its just CowboyNeil and Commander Taco (Last year it was just CowboyNeil, so its up 200%!)
They provide an information service to the public.
For which they need to pay.
They edit that information based upon thier personal beliefs.
Not so much - they have removed certain items from their cache when threated with lawsuits (that the presumably didn't think they could win)
You're right, I'm a fool. I guess that I don't really understand censorship.
I was rude to call you a fool, I apologize.
However, I would not call it censorship if, say, a newspaper decides they don't want to run a certain kind of add. I may call them a lot of other things (prudish, stupid, pathetic, etc) but after all, it is their newspaper. Its when states and governments try to twist or suppress things i would call it censorship.
Funny tho because when my library, who provides an information service to the public, edited or deleted content because of the personal beliefs of the board of directors it was called censorship. I didn't call it that, there were many people who did including those who make our laws and govern our country. There were many educated people who call it that.
Well, I don't know about the specific situation, but on the face of it, I would also call it that. But then a library is generally supposed to be an unbaised repository of knowledge for the people (usually support by the state to varing degrees)
Maybe you can explain it to me and to them.
You *did* get that it was advertizing? That the people who run Google don't want to run certain kinds of adds on *their* website? It has nothing to do with the links to *other* websites.
Many people, myself included, like to try out different aspects of a game, online or not. I,know I would want to see what would happen if I choose a different branch in the game.

You can take that "realistic" shit and sell it to the tourists because I'm not buying. A MMORPG, based on Star Wars, the same universe with the Force, droids and Jar-Jar Binks, REALISTIC? Give me a break.
You don't know that it isn't realistic, its a big universe - perhaps they exsist somewhere - just not here. The unknown can be realistic, just not experienced.

Just look at at site that uses CSS instead of tables. The site is perfectly readable, but the design is gone.
Which is good, since so many sites become unreadable BECAUSE of CSS.
Follow: most webmasters (>90%) don't use stylesheets as they were intended, namely as a relative definition. They define all fonts as ABSOLUTE sizes, if you do that the font size can't be adjusted in Microsoft Internet Explorer - ie, if your sight, like mine, isn't 20/20 it can be hard to read a lot of pages. If they had designed them with just a little bit of care, and used relative font sizes instead, they would be scalable and readable. If you tell that to the webmasters they either don't know what you are talking about or tell you to get lost (in varying degrees of politeness)

Um, if I wanted to watch video on a schedule, I'd watch TV.
If you lived close enough to the transmitter to be able to receive the signal. No vision there boy.
