It isn't how much time you spend, it is how much others link it. If you are the only one who thinks it's great it doesn't have much value in the greather picture.
"However, it didn't. Turns out (from conversations with their fans on their message board) that no one wants to buy their music. They like it, but hwy buy the music when fans can download every one of their albums for free online? "
No, why buy it if it isn't good enough. The band doesn't cut it - time to get a real job.
Everytime I come across a "2.0" website, its filled with tons of javascript crap and ccs, takes forever to load and compile and execute the javascript (or what ever the browser does it) - Go back to the days of content over style.
"Grind is now considered to be a gameplay aspect that players "expect", and grind isn't fun."
I would submit its only expected by the old guard and those with no life - the new players don't like it - hence the fact that people are buying gold hand of fist in some of these games.
"This sort of comment is exactly what he's complaining about, and a very good reason for someone without an extensive *x bacground to avoid desktop Linux. You just undid all the goodwill that the previous, very informative reply might have generated."
You are right about goodwill or badwill. A big reason I'm not going to firefox is I've been at the receiving end of too many offensive religious zealots who think i must use it or be an idiot. Now I get annoyed just thinking about Firefox.
"I was with you until that one. Lottery winners are leaches? Care to share your reasoning?"
No, I don't mean lottery winners are leaches, that's just be phrasing my reply badly I guess. My comment to his comment about lottery winners was the "nonsense" part, the rest was still about his comments further up.
"I don't think it's that simple. Suppose a young musician is moderately popular, and is out on tour. Suppose (s)he dies in an accident, and their death sparks a tidal wave of interest in the musician. Now what if they had a very young child and widow? Are you suggesting the child and widow should be on welfare or be a working single-parent, when their spouse had more than enough money to support them if only they weren't screwed over by a copyright expiring at the artist's death? I'm pretty sure the dead musician would've wanted his family taken care of."
They are no better than other humans. Everbody who died would want their family taken care of - its not the job of society.
"It can be arranged. however, in return, like most musicians you will have to work the first dozen or so years of your life for virtually nothing, with no guarantee whatsoever of ever making a penny from any of it."
Ah, like millions of startup companies around the world - none of whome get paid forever after.
"Of course, if like 99.9% of people, you would rather have a safe and steady job with regular salary paid, and not put up with rejection, sarcasm, derision,"
Wow, what kind of salary is it you need to get before you don't have to put up with rejection, sarcasm and derision?
" with no pension, no career structure, and absolutely no certainty of ever making more than minimum wage,"
Ah, like millions around the world, who don't get paid for ever after.
"It's like whineing about lottery winners, when you weren't prepared to risk your dollar on buying one."
Nonsense, they are leaches and should be slapped down.
"Small farmers can grow either, switchgrass for ethanol production and hemp for food or ethanol. This will create an income for these farmers, so it's not either food or fuel"
For a few seconds perhaps, before they are put out of business by the big producers in the west.
God I hate you kids and your intolerance, IT LOOKS CRAP in my browser, IT'S HARD TO ME TO READ - that is why i object. Not some flamebait nonsense (that's yourself you are talking about there)

It's almost mostly irrelevant. 99.9999999999999999% of those buying it couldn't care less about who may have made what bit of code.
And most get a headache trying to read the lamer langauge in that gpl whatever license.
Where people able to live without it?

" It is NOT illegal to host torrent files though,"
It is in other countries who have signed the same treaties as sweden, so its only a question of time.
Yeah, but your expansions are a bunch of crap planets in darkness which all look the same. This is vastly different and actually worth paying for ;)
Well then, don't you like it that you can start a new class at level 60?
"Someone older and wiser once told me that, "Locks keep honest people honest.""
He wasn't wise - or at least that quote isn't.

The stupid ones can't figure out how, and the bright ones have better things to do.
Those are the only ones who vent public with it!
I know what you ment. There are old guard developers, some of those working on world of warcraft where hardcore everquest loosers before.

How many uninstalls?
"You don't pay hookers in real life to have sex with you, you pay them to go away afterwards. "
You know this from personal experience?
"You don't pay hookers over the internet to have sex with you, you pay them to be imaginary and stay that way."
Odd, I thought you'd pay them to get what little bit of company you could get.

You want money? Then WORK FOR IT - like everybody else.

They are being used though.

Don't forget using the poor peoples food for ethanol instead of feeding them ;-)
What do they know! ;)
