  1. Instead of a new internet on Do We Need a New Internet? · · Score: 2, Informative

We just need to educate people on how to use the internet and not fuck up their computer. It would go along the lines of, 1. Don't go to shady porn sites 2. Don't download software to turn your cursor into a piece of glitter covered shit 3. Don't send money to people in Nigeria 4. Do use anti virus/spyware/adware programs 5. Use open source software when possible 6. If you want to figure out how to fix your computer/internet go to google.com and type in your problem By my estimation this would solve around 90% of computer/internet issues. Without giving up our freedom just because you are so fucking incompetent you don't know how to work your own machine.

  2. Follow Up Story on How Google Decides To Cancel a Project · · Score: 5, Funny

We need a follow-up story, "How Google decides whether or not to label something Beta". I'm guessing it involves dart boards, hookers, and cocaine.

  3. The Slashdot circle jerk on Open Source Study Included In US Stimulus Package · · Score: 3, Interesting

I'm all for open source software, but it seems like Slashdot is the great open source circle jerk. We spend all of our time going omg open source software might appear in Project XYZ. In the end it never does, but even that glimmer of hope is enough for us to reach climax. If the average slashdotter's spent half the time working to promote open source to the average consumer, instead of jacking off, propriety software might be in trouble. Instead we stay in this relatively obscure internet community patting one another on the back when in the real world open source is getting it's ass kicked. Not a comment on the article I guess, but just something that I had to say.

  4. Yet another BS study on Study Finds Gamers Prefer Control, Competence Over Violence · · Score: 4, Insightful

They surveyed 101 people and expect to draw a useful conclusion from that? In my high school probability class we did surveys with more people than that. Besides the flawed sample, choosing more women than men in a hobby hugely dominated by males. The sample size is smaller than my recently removed left testicle.

  5. The real risk is... on The Real Risks of Obama's BlackBerry · · Score: 1

Critics saying he is racist for carrying a BlackBerry, but never a WhiteBerry. What? Too soon?

  6. In bed with Google on Federal Officials and YouTube Nearing a Deal · · Score: 5, Insightful

Why does the federal government need an official video channel anyway? They should post their public domain videos on their own site and allow others to distribute them to youtube, liveleak, hulu etc. Giving youtube favoritism just adds to Google's ever growing monopoly, even if they generally act ethically. The idea of having a incredibly powerful company like google, essentially get humped by the federal government worries me.
