Why should CAPTCHAs be declared dead? At least in my experience they are very effective at stopping spammers, and bother visitors very little. As a site operator I would easily take classic CAPTCHAs over OpenID or micro payments.
Micro payments are terrible ideas, first because it violates basic net neutrality principles and second because going through payment processes would be a logistical nightmare.
So this kid is apparently trying to launch his own version of Twitter at StalkDaily. To do this he launches a worm infecting Twitter users to drive traffic to his site, and then admits to it. Great way to build good will with your users.
Just so everyone knows, most teenage nerds are this stupid/unethical.
The problem for me is performance. XP runs significantly faster and has significantly better battery life than Ubuntu. Assuming your hardware is compatible Linux isn't_terribly_difficult to get running. It's hard to justify open source when propriety software just runs better though.
I am holding out hope that 9.04 will work to improve battery life and speed, and not just give me more features I don't need. Like what Windows 7 has done after Vista.
No way this could be used to insult the king or anything. I might have to report my neighbor, Thaikingsucksbigcock Smith for some things he told me the other day.
Fuck these terrible April Fool's day articles. Slashdot, the rule is one prank a year on April 1st. Spamming the front pages with these shitty unfunny useless articles makes me wish Conficker had actually taken down the internet today.
Common misconception, naked pictures do not constitute child porn. The images need to be sexual as well. This is why the nude pics of me in the bath when I was 3 are not illegal. And no I will not email you them.
The problem with 3d images, and complex non text CAPTCHAs in general is image size. You need to have enough different images so that the computer can't just brute force it, and those images need to be big enough so the user can actually see it. by the time you fulfil these obligations the CAPTCHA is taking up a good 3/4 of a page.
I tried Chromium and at this stage it is so buggy and slow that it is totally unusable. At this point I am forced to run FireFox with a bunch of add ons to try and mimic chromium's functionality, but that won't help you get to the speed of Google Chrome.
The real problem is dreamweaver code sucks compared to anything a decent programmer can just type out in notepad. The question becomes, would you rather use an open source CMS, code your own theme and get good code. Or would rather blow $400 on a piece of software that's going to spew out something totally unusable. Investing a little bit of time learning how to do css goes a long way.
Good for the federal government. They shouldn't be picking certain video sites over others just because it's the cool thing to do. Particularly one that is owned by a powerful company like Google.
No doubt the videos will be quickly ripped in uploaded to youtube, and a zillion other video sharing sites so people aren't stuck with the government website if they don't like it. And it's all legit because the videos are in the public domain.
Everybody spam the http://jonesday.com/ with the anchor text "litigious bastards". Only 14,000 results in google so it shouldn't be hard to get to the top.
This is just a blatant money grab by ICANN. It does nothing for the end user, and nothing for domain owners. Will your life be made better with a.penis extension? It just adds another level of confusion and makes names more difficult to remember. We already have enough dumb TLDs, why do we need infinity more?
Set up your own blog on a domain using some part of your full name. Write a dozen posts or so about your professional/personal life using keywords like your name that your employer would search for. Then do some link building with your name as the anchor text. Unless your name is a particularly competitive search term (guessing it isn't) this should bring you up pretty high in Google and most major search engines.

They are going to lose just like paypal did to paypalsucks.com
Oh yeah, and paypal really grinds my gears.

So does this mean we can't blame the RIAA/MPAA for this? Damn...

"media exposure" heh
I actually already run ubuntu. No comments on that yet.
Even linking to copyrighted material is illegal in the United States.
In that case please email me your slashdot password.
browsershots is a pain in the ass. Half the time it will take pictures of the page before it finishes loading and it takes forever.

Actually ads are usually served by the advertising company, not the websites they appear on.

FIRE!!!
All that Wolfarm has promised here is a wall of text full of buzzwords. Until I can actually test this it's just another cuil.

Then why does steampunk still exist?

It's not like cheese is capable of downloading things from the internet anyway.
