--I remember fighting with my friends parents who wanted to buy him a computer "for school" (ha ha ha ha) and they wanted to get hin a 386sx16 WITH GeoWorks! I yelled, cajoled and mocked them. Certainly an Amiga A500 with a GVP (I think) 52MB HD and a 68030 chip (@25mHz) was a better purchase! Sure it was like $3000 but the Amiga had 4096 colors AND half brites!
--My A500 sits in its original box with an epyx 500J (?) joystick a 1084 monitor and the extra floppy (Willy Beamish sure would have sucked without that!) and all the software I... obtained in my basement. I miss that machine Gurus and all.
--However, I don't care what Amiga (or whoever) does now. I am stuck multi booting NT, 2000, 98 and RH6.2 without any fear that I will have any sort of meditation (save for when 2000 is booting, lots of time for meditation then) from my Amiga Gurus. But do you think someone could port SpeedBall 2 for chis'sake?

Your ideas, while valid, are slightly skewed. An auto and a horse are not the same, a train and a plane are different. Those were technological advances. E Commerce IS NOT DIFFERENT, while there IS technology it is not an advance! (Ask Gateway...) The fact that the Amazon's of the world have eliminated a cashier does not make their business intrinsically different from Johnny Bookstore. Ultimately you get a book. Ultimately that book comes from a publisher, warehouse.

Understand, as well, I am fairly conservative and I hate the fact that half of my salary goes to the US Government either through the deductions in my paycheck or through the state sales tax or tolls or stamps or property tax... And when you consider that the government can't make money on a simple #'s game like Lotto you have to wonder if they are worthy of 1/4 of my salary.

It simply is not fair for Johnny Bookstore owner to go head to head with Amazon.com when with everything else Amazon has they also don't charge tax!
Yes, there is the delivery charge, but *oddly* most people don't mind that as long as they aren't paying that 8.25% sales tax. People hate taxesthat much (and rightly so.)
Further, states are losing tons of money to this sort of thing. NJ recently tried to TICKET cars with NJ plates parked in DEL malls b/c NJ felt it was losing tax dollars to DEL sales since DEL doesn't have sales tax. The thought process being, "If they bought their Levi's and Birkenstocks right herre in Jersey we'd be up $18." States won't put up with this forever.
It *seems* unfair b/c we think we're outside of normal society and we've been *getting away with it* for so long, but ultimately this day was going to come.
I realize most of this will be trashed and I will bet that CmdTaco will personally remove my account for my hideous views on taxation but fair is fair. You cannot reasonably expect anyone to compete with an *e* site if the *e* site isn't playing by the same rules as the rest of the resellers.
Um... Look I like females as much as the next male but Nev looks like Alfalfa from the Little Rascals. She is so incredibly plain looking it hurts to view her for more than eight minutes.

Look this EP was a Troll! let's see who was this EP for... US, geeks! Afterglow WAS Lara Croft, period. M&S were dressed as Space Marines ala Doom/Quake/Duke (I think M even spouted some Duke lines) the computer fairy tales were SUPPOSED to tick us off. but the final answer ctrl+alt+bloodbath... come'on you laughed it was funny. No off switch. huh! plus the "game" was as boring as a space invaders rip off! The whole thing was meant to get us writing. It did. They won. PS- That WAS the worst episode ever....
Had your sitch 3 years ago and just had a son 9 mos ago. Guess what...I went from 60-70 to 40-50 --snap-- three days afetr my son was born. Python, Perl, CGI, Notes, NT, Linux and all 800 users will be there when I get back... Bottom line kid comes first.
