  1. Been done before: Saints of Virtue on Onward, Christian Geeks · · Score: 1
War in Heaven the "first Christian action game"? It's not even the first Christian 3D shooter-- Shine Studio's Saints of Virtue was the earliest one I've heard of.

In SoV, it seems you go around the Kingdom of the Heart (through levels like The Amphitheater of Apathy and the New Age Nirvana) collecting ammo and power-ups for your Sword of the Spirit, with which to combat such enemies as Fear, Vanity, and Self-Righteousness. Scroll doors with Worldly Wisdoms on them are unlocked by reading Scrolls of Truth (Bible verses) at them.

If you'd rather the kids be blasting ambulatory abstract concepts than zombie marines, you can read more about it at www.saintsofvirtue.com.

  2. Better price on Kinesis contoured keyboards on Keyboards - Dvorak or Qwerty? · · Score: 1
Kinesis contoured QWERTY/Dvorak keyboards are expensive. Fentek (cited above) sells the Classic PC QD model for $299.

I ordered the same model from Safe Computing for $236.25.

Safe Computing's site presents the various models with the same image and description (no info on the differences), so you should know the model you want in advance.

  3. Re:mail.yahoo.com on Yahoo Backs Down (sorta) · · Score: 1

"any Yahoo property" should include mail.yahoo.com.

So it seems that Yahoo has asserted its right to "use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, or create derivative works from" your private e-mail.

  4. Alan Baratz's comments on Browser news · · Score: 1

Alan was quoted saying, "We could move to a model like [the Java Community Process]. We don't have complete control of the process, but we're looking at our options." Sun doesn't have any control of the process, so one wonders what options Alan is referring to. His remarks sounded to me like some sort of power play.

  5. Pac-Man an "American icon"? on Perfect score in Pac-Man · · Score: 1

Speaking of amusing patriotic nonsense, http://www.namco.com has been touting the 20th anniversary of "an American icon".

How amusing that Namco's PR department thinks it can push more units by prevailing on nationalistic sentiment. But I'm a little insulted that Namco's PR department thinks we're simple-minded enough to accept the quintessential Japanese video game icon as one of our own.

Then again... Pac-Man is a creature that lives only to consume, and wins by consuming more than anyone else. Very Japanese, but very American too.
