    To sum up what OP said:

    1. CPU draws significant power compared to when idle.
    2. Javascript-on-browser sucks as a language/system for distributed computing. It's not power efficient. It's too easy to fake results.

    Microsoft and Sony should build these controllers to increase their reputation, so that people will see them as "savior of the disabled". This gives them one extra chance to do massive evil.

    The "dynamics of capitalism" is just market force. It doesn't have to be capitalism actually.

    North Korea wouldn't be building these controllers (even if there are to be 360s sold there) as it isn't seen to be beneficial to the country, it's better for people to focus on work. All the funding needed to get the controller on the market is better off used for pleasing Dear Leader.

    And North Korea is the best Korea!

    The fact never changes that Apple failed to deliver the functionality before the guy did. As such, it is just proper for Apple to credit him in some way.

    Okay, there are many apps out there that does syncing wirelessly. So I think rule one is out of question: iOS didn't have that particular feature that was made available with that app, the app provided a feature that was not yet part of iOS.
    So I think the only way it could've failed was because of the second rule you state.

    Oh that's simple.

    If there were 100,000 Non-Macs previously, there are 104,500 Non-Macs today. Conversely, if there were 6 Macs previously, there are 10 Macs today

    Also Macs are PCs too. I hate it when people call Non-Macs as PCs, and especially that Mac presentation in Apple Stores which claim "Mac does not get PC virus!" when it's actually referring to Windows'.

    I think you've linked to a wrong article. For desktop use it should be something around buffer overflow or privilege escalation exploits.

    Having a built-in reader is no more vulnerable than a third-party one. For people who never use PDF, then the reader is never used, hence no more security concern.

    If you didn't opt for the ads, then no. And they may do anything with your medical info as long as they've got your and your physician's consents.

    That is getting way out of context. By the way, you didn't read the privacy link they put in Google's front page? That's not their fault

    Maximizing profit needs to be tempered with responsibility.

    Hence, the motto "Don't be evil!"

    Too often, profit is put over top off everything else, including good sense, civic respect, and civil rights.

    You're assuming malice. Just so you know, all these tech corporations are dealing with new frontiers, that previously known common sense and moral lines are too vague to be reinterpreted in the newer analogues.

    Sure, it'd be a lot easier if corporations could just reach into our bank accounts and take money outright

    And since when has maximizing a corporate's profit become evil? If you got any sense of business management, you'd understand that profit is essential to allow a corporate to continue functioning. And I never hear the "do no evil" phrase being repeated constantly except by people outside Google (mainly /.tters).

    So you better stay on track and discuss what is actually evil here. User tracking? Is that harmful to the user? Does Google use information it collects from your surfing habits to blackmail you or something?
