Wasn't there a PBS show on this awhile ago as well? I seem to recall them mentioning one of the problems with a transporter would be Heisenburg's (sp?) uncertainty principle, and you'll actually here then talk about Heisenburg compensators as being part of the transporter's makeup.
a) All Politicians are lying, cheating, bottom feeders. b) The American voting public are total idiots
No wonder people don't have any faith in politics anymore. The saddest part of this is the millions of AOL casual users who think the web is the internet will probably buy this hook, line & sinker.
Compile via a gnu compiler, link some psx libraries.
Run on a devkit which is essentially a psx on an IDE board (well 2 boards).
The executable & data are then burnt onto a CD & run off a blue box (psx w/o integrated copy protection) or a mod-chip'd psx. When sony manufactures the final discs the copy protection is put into the finals so the discs will run on a normal psx.
As for the new system, that's kinda up in the air, there's a few paths that can be taken from doing the same as now (ide/pci board), having a tcp/ip connection, etc.
The developers who went to the '50 millionth' party are arriving back in the states tonight / tomorrow so there will be alot more info soon hopefully
Ya I can see the compiler not changing, the curious thing will be the debugger.
Especially since SN is using the same debugger (the new win one, not the old dos one) for the N64 & the PSX, It's suprising that they'd move away from this. On first guess I would have thought they'd just make the current debugger support the PSX2 as well.
More over this is just some musings, guess I'll drop a note to SN & see what they have to say.
The strange thing is that SN Systems & Metroworks are still being used for the psx development tools. Both have significant Wintel investments with their current toolsets. It'd be quite suprising to see them move to Linux.
I wish the news houses would stop pushing all the demo screenshots & start talking about the dev stuff, but then again the masses could care less what we develop in. Oh well, patience is a virtue.

What a warm fuzzy feeling it is to see MTU mentioned on Slashdot & to see responses too:)
As far as the ratio went, it wasn't MSU, but my friends & I all seemed to do alright. If you consider 4:1 is a population ratio, you actually have a near 1:1 ratio once you take out the social misfits. (Not to dis on them, they're part of tech's charm)
Sony & Nintendo are extremely stringent about what games are released for thier consoles. They can get away with this because they control the production medium.
Should UltraHLE/SGS become a viable console alternative, I can now produce a game, and market the rom/game image w/o ever having to have Nintendo or Sony approve it, or take a slice of the profits. A plus for garage developers, a minus for the industry giants.
When was the last time you heard of a 'real criminal' (murderer, robber, etc) fighting off law enforcement with gunplay?
When was the last time you heard of a computer criminal doing so?
If you're a law enforcement agency, which one are you going to choose to go after?
Our whole office is going on the 19th to an early show, then to lunch, then back for a 2nd showing!
:)
Man I love my job at times

Just like # has multiple definitions, so does hacker. Find something better more constructive to whine over.
What's holding up someone from making what most of us really want? An MP3 player for the car that just reads the MP3's off a CD-R?
