Ok, I over-reacted a bit, but that's because my previous comment was modded down as troll even though I wasn't trying to bash atheists nor anyone else, only trying to defend religion itself by mentioning Ten Commandments. My intention certainly wasn't to defend religious leaders who start wars, deny evolution, prohibit use of condoms or do other stuff which has nothing to do with teaching of Jesus.
As I wrote in another comment, Ten Commandments are the only thing every Christian is obliged to follow because they are given to Moses by God himself. Everything else in The Bible is written by men and could be a load of crap.
I guess you're a Bahá'í then? It's the only religion I know which pays more than lip service to science and reason, faith in any other religion pretty much precludes critical thinking.
But it is still a religion and therefore deserves scorn, right? Otherwise why bash religion and/or be atheist if not all religions are same shit in different package?
Interesting how I was modded as troll for stating the truth (even if you disagree with my post, remember that slashdot doesn't have a disagree moderation).
And I'm not even a religious person (more like an agnostic), I just wished for you anti-theist folk to look past petty hatred towards religion. But that's something you are apparently uncapable of.
If most slashdotters think that buddhism should be exempted when religion is mentioned in negative context, why are most of slashdotters atheists instead of buddhists?
But what's so bad about killing people who don't agree with you, after all? Killing all Christians and burning all churches = wet dream of every slashdot anti-theist. Even Dalai-Lama condemned the hatred and fear atheists love to spread.
Even if you don't desire death of every religious person, don't you think that some people deserve to be killed? For example, Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin and Rush Limbaugh. I'm sure that most of the Internet would gloat joyfully if either of those people die.
If you anti-theists really think that the world would be better without religion, then stop bitching on the Internet and start a war with religion already. If religious nutters and anti-religious nutters would wipe each other as they should, then only normal people would remain on the world.
Check The Ten Commandments. Neither of the stuff you mentioned is approved there. Everything you mentioned is a byproduct of abuse of religion. If there were no religion, people would find another excuse to be racists or homophobes. After all, communists also did most of the things you mentioned and they rejected religion.
And don't give me that crap "communism is good in theory, it's the power-hungry people who abused it". The same can be said for religion. As I said, just check The Ten Commandments. Especially those saying that you should not kill, rape or steal.
Can I sue my company for making me addicted to my job? Because of them, I get up at the same exact time and go to the same place everyday monday to friday where I meet same people and spend next 8 hours doing boring and repetitive stuff. If that's not addiction, then I don't know what it is.
So its designed to work similar to a Microsoft product...

How does that expression about Ducks go again?
Anyways, Kinect is patented, so if the technology is similar enough, I smell a potential lawsuit.
Under normal circumstances, probably. But since Xbox isn't available on Chinese market (probably because M$ doesn't like piracy) and Lenovo's console is aimed at Chinese market only, I say that Microsoft has no right to complain here.
I can predict that this story will be one of those reaching digg front page (maybe it already did, but digg is too broken atm for me to go there and check it out)
Myth 1&2 were my favourite games of all time, but Myth 3 was not made by Bungie and was a disaster.
Unfortunately I doubt that Myth 4 will ever be made, even the person who was behind first two games (Tuncer Deniz) isn't making games anymore.
The best we can hope for is for someone else to release something similar but I haven't ever seen a game similar to Myth - the closest ones were old-school isometric RPGs.
China is everyone's favourite example for Internet censorship but some countries have even tougher filtering methods - for example, whitelisting rather than blacklisting sites.
What you're saying is, literally, "Digg became bad when the opposing party took the majority; when my party had it, it was all fine and dandy".
Nope, I said more like "Digg became bad when the opposing party took the majority; when there was no majority, it was all fine and dandy". "My party" didn't had the majority on digg, ever - I'm not even an American actually, but because of sites like digg I become somewhat interested in American politics.
To put in numbers, lets assume that digg users during "Ron Paul times" were 45% liberals, 45% libertarians and 10% conservatives. Today I would say there's around 90% liberals, 9% libertarians and 1% conservatives.
So liberal numbers still were huge on digg in Ron Paul times just like today. But there were enough other guys to prevent the liberal voice from being the only one heard.
Digg began to suck really hard during 2008 election phase, which attracted alot of left-wing Obama lovers and hasn't recovered ever since, since most conservative and libertarian members left during that time (since it was no longer for them to discuss anything political without being called all sorts of names).
I remember the times when Ron Paul was popular and those were much better times. Today, if you wish to go there, it's best to stick to images of lolcats and avoid any threads with political discussion, because if you don't agree with majority, you'll be buried into oblivion.
And I can only assume you despise movies and books too which tend to have no "replay value" either, and which also only deliver a few hours of enjoyment for the cost...
Every book takes more than 3 hours than read, and movie ticket costs a lot less than a computer game. If I could find a game which costs no more than a movie ticket, can be beaten in three hours and is fun, then I might actually buy it...
I'll say the same thing. I grant that its anecdotal and thus does not apply to the whole group. But I live next door to two teen girls, and that pretty much hits the nail on the head. They don't look at the net like we do. They're not in to hacking. They don't care how elegant (or crufty) something may be. "Cool" has nothing to do with it. They just want to keep contact with their friends, and they want it to work.
Kinda like my old dad treats the television. He spents half a day holding the remote, yet as soon as something is messed up, he's as helpless as fish out of the water and calls me to fix it.
Technology changes but people stay the same.

Ok, that's just ridiculous. If I am legally allowed to have sex with a person, I should be legally allowed to view them having sex (I'm not really into blindfolds). I have never heard and can not imagine a justification for this legal distinction.
Sure, that sounds somewhat hypocritical but there's also some sense into it. You can say that pornography with minors would be sexual exploatation of them, which isn't the case when they have sex with anothor person merely for pleasure and without being recorded.
Also, people who make porn movies are usually paid for it, and minors aren't allowed to work. So that obviously includes doing porn.
I could probably come up with a couple more both pro's and con's if I think about it while...

But age of consent isn't the same as adulthood, at least not in most countries. For example, in my country age of consent is 14. So an adult have the right to have consentual sex with 14-year old. However, pornography featuring someone who is 14 years is still illegal.
This wouldn't have happened if their censorship plan wasn't met with such strong opposition from Australian people, ISPs and organizations like EFF. Thumbs up for those who stand for their rights!

Bible is man-written. Ten Commandments are given to Moses by God himself. Therefore they should be put above anything else written in The Bible.

Better to be a dumbass than an anonymous coward
I can see someone patenting "Are you sure?" prompt.
Actually, when I think of it, alot of dumber patents have been accepted.
