It fucking works? Except when it doesn't and brings your phone to a grinding halt. Which has happened to many, many people. Fanboys are fucking mental.
I saw a thread with people bitterly complaining about this and there were still fanboys on there saying retarded things like "no-one forced you to upgrade to iOS6". It's all a bit pathetic really. Apple fucked up, and worse than that they fucked up and have prevented their users from using an alternative that works. iOS probably is better than ICS and I'm sure the apps are more polished, but this sort of idiotic lockdown means that I will never buy an iOS device.
I hope they're working on an accurate maps app as soon as possible. Of course if the poor users weren't locked into this retarded walled garden Google probably could have given them working maps immediately.
How does that work for iPod / iPhone docks where the idea is that the device fits snugly in the dock? Or for hi fis and car sound systems with the same thing? A lot of people have been shafted by this. Just because you and your friends haven't is pretending that the vast market for 3rd party peripherals is irrelevant.
They did. I've worked on code that said something along the lines of "if year is less than 74 then century = 20". And it's "should've" or "should have" not "should of". Should of doesn't make any sense.
I love these kinds of articles, usually from someone who's never had a proper IT job, who assume that businesses are just being lazy or cheap just because they don't feel spending a fortune to replace something that still works fine with something that probably won't work any better and may actually be worse.
They won't revoke your ability to use XP. They just won't update it any more. Although I guess if they turn the registration servers off that would break any XP machine that needed a new motherboard. They should at least issue a patch in 2014 to remove the registration requirement.
So where do you work? How large is the company? How many staff does it have in the IT department? How many applications does your IT department support? Any legacy applications that have worked fine for 10 years and would require a lot of money to replace?
Because Microsoft actively worked to prevent organisations migrating away from IE6 to other browsers. This has come round and bitten everyone on the arse since any upgrade to a better browser has required extensive testing to ensure that the shit from IE6 still worked. Had Microsoft been punished properly by Bush perhaps we could have all been spared the worst of IE6's awfulness. Microsoft's incompetence with regards to IE7 and 8 also didn't help. IE9 isn't much better but it's a start. However they seem to be carrying on the retardation by not allowing people to test their sites in advance with IE10 without having to install a whole new OS.
Maybe he doesn't feel like paying Microsoft a lot of money for no real advantage. If the Win 7 upgrade was a reasonable price you might have a point but here in the UK it's 83 GBP and there's no guarantee that his perfectly functioning computer will be able to run Win 7 given that manufacturers often haven't provided Win 7 drivers for older hardware. So your remedy is potentially for the parent poster to buy himself or herself a new computer that they don't really need.
Those with children get priority over single people living at home with their parents. What an odd idea that is. Because one person living with their parents is much more in need of a home than a family living with grandparents or in a B&B. The shortage of council houses is due to them being sold off in the 80s, nothing more, nothing less. There used to be plenty for everyone. Thanks to Thatcher now there is an acute shortage.
I have recently discovered the benefits of open source by working on Microsoft Dynamics CRM. That is that if you have an enormously complex web app (CRM) you need the source to figure out what the issues are, unless you feel like spending hours on Google trying to debug "An unexpected error has occurred".
Sadly I do not have the source and so my job is made immeasurably more difficult because of it. I'm sure that the quality of any open source product would not necessarily be better, but if there are any issues with it, I can look at, step through and even change the code at will. CRM prevents me from doing this. Decompiling it helps somewhat but you need to find where the offending code is, and even then you can't see any of the variable values or the flow of the code.
No, the players agreed to a set of rules that they then chose to break. Do bars not have the right to ban abusive drunks because they're paying customers? The actions of the players are all that matter. They C H E A T E D and have been punished for it. Or do you, in your little world populated by unicorns and fairies, expect bug free software, something that even NASA cannot do, from a games company? Fuck me Slashdot has a high retard quotient these days. PS how do you know the players PAID not PAYED fuckwit in US fucking dollars. I paid in British fucking pounds personally and some of the cheating fucking pricks may well have paid in Swiss fucking Francs or European Union fucking Euros too.

It's not yahoo it's google.

Cool buy a new dock, a new hi fi, hell even a new car. Plus buy an accurate GPS app. Economic stimulus Apple-style.

There has been a lot of "if it ain't broke break it" lately.

This is why I keep coming here despite the idiots. Thanks :-)
Microsoft stopped vendors from selling a custom non-compatible version of Windows? When?

Are the all the people on council house waiting lists childless adults then? What utter bollocks you speak.

Because you are a total fucking retard.
It's because you're too stupid to use Google.
