EPOC is the best palm-top OS, it beats PalmOS and Windows CE (PocketPC) by a mile.
And therefore is doomed to failure. Psion don't have the kind of marketing dollars that M$ and Ci$co have. Talent should be enough, but it never is, or else we'd all be using OS/2, Linux or GEOS PCs. One day people and corporations will buy according to quality rather than good marketing, but I'm not holding my breath (Fords outsell Volkswagens after all)
It's only the same as all the magazines with PC in the title, but only focus on Windows (although Linux does get the odd mention under the 'our major advertisers told us to say it was too hard' section). Times are still changing, this time last year there was only one magazine in the UK that had a Linux section, now even the newbie mags have the odd article (see previous sentence). The future's bright, the future's Linux.
And how this is different to any big IT project in any large corporation. Been there done that far too many times. One day Director of IT won't mean guy that only believes people from outside the company.
But shouldn't the beer company be sued for providing a product that prevented the driver from being in control of his actions. Sue, sue and sue again, what would be the word for being ruled by lawyers - sueocracy perhaps?
Time to switch to decaf. UDP is uniform datagram protocol and HTTP uses port 80 by default although it doesn't have to, you can set it up how you like. The 'net is better because it's diverse and elitism only has a place in the British Foreign Office. As broadband increasingly becomes available (keep holding your breath) the bandwidth-wasters will become irrelevant. I agree with most of what you say about the Yanks though, although the UK doesn't have most of the nice laws that Scandinavia has.
This man was merely providing a service, standardizing internet video into a single application, taking people's money and making a run for it. This action will ruin the tech industry, bring down the stock market and the commies will take over. He's being punished for being too successful and his freedom to innovate is being restricted. Or something like that.......
Unless it's the Evil Empire(tm), in which that's what they've been doing for the past 5 years. Mind you, how would anyone get their hands on the source code without signing airtight NDAs promising retribution unto the 10th generation. So let's play guess the company........
Linux is wonderful and I wish that I never had to use Windows, but intuitive is not the word I would use to describe it. How does 'grep' relate to a command that finds strings within files. Yes I know it stands for Get Regular Expression and Print, but that wouldn't help my dad find the command. I'm not knocking it in the slightest, just knocking the rather jargonified Unix syntax that it's based on (heretic!).
The hole in the *nix browser market is closing at last. I'm posting this from Mozilla 16 and it is excellent (after NS4.7 at least). Not so far away now I think. As for using an MS product, if they play nicely then there's no reason not to. My (and probably many others) hatred is based on bitter and sometimes expensive experience. Or to put it another way I'm exercising my choice as a consumer not to buy a product that doesn't work properly.
The US has the best health service in the world, shit I just fell out of my seat laughing. If you're rich the US has the best health service, but I wouldn't swap places with a citizen of the New York ghetto for anything. What you're basically advocating is that poor people should only have access to a really shit electricity service while those in Beverly Hills should have the best.
The reason why Apache is the dominant player is because it was chosen by people who know something about computer systems and aren't swayed by slick marketing campaigns like your favourite CIO. And if you don't like Apache and want to use something else, all you have to do is rpm -e apache; rpm -i (apologies to other methods; it's just an example). I bet IIS and IE are a bit harder to shift from Windows.

It doesn't work properly, it crashes all the time, and there's no way to find out why. That's the reason for all the anti-MS stuff here.
IBM couldn't get the OEM folk to pre-install OS/2 seeing as it was a competitor, Apple dropped the ball, and Netscape had no chance against a monopolist that was prepared to drop their prices to zero and use ISPs and OEMs to force Netscape out of the market. IBM and Netscape are not guilty of incompetence, but fell victim to the over-bearing attitude of MS and the cowardice of the ISPs and OEMs. Only Apple can wear the dunce's hat in this case.
The company you work for has broken the law. No excuses, no whining about innovation and saying that the law is a stupid one. If Microsoft cannot abide by the laws governing business then they should not be in business. Time to take the rap and get on with it. All this legal manouvering and uncertainty is what's really hurting the industry at the moment, and it's time for an ending.
And Americans get upset when the rest of the world laughs at them. Talk about a hysterical over-reaction, and what has been done about the people libelling his friends? Have they had their stuff confiscated too? Doesn't look like it, but then they're 'normal'.
Microsoft have a contingency plan, they're going to sod off to Canada instead. All Canadians, write to your elected representative to demand that convicted criminals should not be allowed to continue committing crimes by moving to your country. After all, would you allow any other crime organisations to escape justice in the US by moving over the border. I don't think so.

It won't be much different to the IE messages relating to Flash plugins. 'You need Java2 to run this application - click here to install'.
It's C Hash, as in another pointless rehash of C.
That would be hilarious. Just need to bug the office and release it all on MP3.

the whole damn OS is intuitive

It segfaults when I try to use it, and yes I have installed the QT libraries.

Hrrrm, I wonder if IIS wouldn't still be in there though. I notice you don't say anything about IE either.
Of course corporate America is so wonderful that nobody could ever find fault with it.

A lot of ISVs would disagree with you there. Ask Intuit for example. Where's the Linux version of Quicken?
