  1. Sunlight? on Scientists Claim Infrared Helmet Could Reverse Alzheimer's Symptoms · · Score: 5, Interesting

So how is this helmet different from just walking around in the sunshine? It's not like there isn't any infra-red light in ordinary sunlight.

Not to mention all of those sites out there that seem to stop functioning after they detect that you're not using IE. How many of those hits you guys are counting are actually other browsers masquerading as IE?

  4. Re:Does anyone really care? on Quad Core Battle, Intel Yorkfield vs AMD Altair · · Score: 1

You're buying into the intel clock speed = processor speed propoganda. There's a lot more to how fast your computer runs than just how fast the clock spins. Clock speed comparisons are reall yonly valid within a particular chip package (p4 to p4, opteron to opteron). Even trying to compare different generations of processor from the same manufacturer as you've done is sketchy at best.

  5. So you totally missed the analogy? on Review: A.I. · · Score: 1

How could anyone miss the analogy of humans creating imperfect robots in the first of the movie, and robots creating imperfect humans at the end of the movie? Maybe you needed a blinking red sign or something. The movie really does end where it began, only the roles get switched. The ending is entirely necessary to complete the analogy, IMO. Teeleton

  6. Positive things to come out of Battlefield Earth on The Battlefield Earth Contest · · Score: 1

Ok, lets get off the whole bashing the CoS and Travolta kick and focus (god forbid there be any focus in the slashdot response forums!) on the actual topic. First off, the movie (although undoubtedly not on purpose) trumpts the fact that knowledge is power. If you attempt the seek the truth through research and discovery (as opposed to taking someone else's word for it) you can overcome great adversity. This is probably the movie's most redeeming quality. Also, there is a nice lesson in the movie for anyone who thinks that reversing an easily guessable password makes for a good password. As the movie so richly pointed out, a neanderthal can still guess it. Cheers! teeleton
