Finally, something on Slashdot that I can try to be an expert on.
First off, think of the drink as a libation. This is not something you'd want to get out of hand on. The sour stomach later in the day can attest to that.
With that warning:
16 oz. glass, packed full of ice (and I mean full; use small ice cubes. Crush the household variety if you must).
Limited amounts of vodka...no more than an ounce and a quarter.
Fill with tomato juice, from a can. Tomato juice from a glass container dosen't have the true taste you're looking for. Leave a half inch or so.
Two or three shakes of Lea and Perrins Worcestershire Sauce.
One and a half to two teaspoons of horseradish (fresh if you grow and make your own, otherwise use the kosher variety). Not heaping, mind you.
Three or four shakes of hot sauce, the jalapeno green stuff made by that major hot sauce maker. I forget the brand name (see what 20 years of bartending does to ya?). Starts with an "M".....the green sauce has the flavor without the nasty bite.
Squeeze a good one quarter lemon in and drop the carcass in. Really freshens it up.
Shake the hell out of it. Get the horse mixed in really well. Serve with the center of a bunch of celery, using the prettiest floral looking stalk.
Only have one or two. After that go over to Champagne Seabreezes or Mimosas. You'll thank me later.............
Have I told you abot Mint Juleps? Or the wonderful Ramos Gin Fizz?
Ahhh......cocktail time. Treat it with respect. It will treat you equally as well.
The last place I worked at ordered a couple of hundred of these during a buildout. All we heard was "geez....$1000 chairs". Yeah, they were nice, but it was a hell of a lot better getting out of 'em and going visiting (rather than the email drivel). Become too comfortable, too sedate, too complacent, you'll fall asleep. I now sit in a $100 chair, the company seems to have a better idea of where to direct the money for the end result, and it compells (?-- too lazy to spell check it) me to get up more often to go visit. Call me old fashioned, I guess.......
Geez, when I saw this my day got brighter. My 7 year old daughter, raised on a Mac from age 2, typing 18 words a minute by age 4 (Mario Teaches!) and spoke her first true thoughts at age 5 (I don't like Windows) is now turning into a Linux gamester using the standard issues of Redhat. My 3 year old shows even more hand/eye dexterity, but she's still giving the Mac a run for it's money. Brings to mind the old thought "Get 'em when they're young". Too bad it's not true.........
If you don't get it, you haven't been there, done that. To know mad dog is to love mad dog. And you're right. It is silly. So is Linux in it's own ways.
This is interesting. One of my first exposures to Linux was a talk given at a local LUG by Jon 'Maddog' Hall. He gave a very insightful history of Linux in the early days and Linus' difficulties getting equipment to do development and testing. My recollection is that Linus was about to start the main development using some of the first Apple PPC's that were hitting the market, as they were going to be made available through some benefactor. In steps Maddog, aka FormerDigitalUnixAlphaGuy (now with VA?), and gets some Alpha machines shipped over to Sweden gratis. PPC gets left in the dust......quite a shame. I myself run both flavors of machines, and prefer the LinuxPPC R4 (gotta get me the 1999 issue soon!)on my Apple 6500 PPC 250 over RH, Caldera or S.U.S.E. on my Intel boxes. IBMs latest action will only make the PPC boxes more mainstream, and therefore better supported. I can't wait till next year.
and I quote: "Invisio is targeting the Optiscope at the next generation of cellular phones...." Nice to see the people passing me on the Mass Pike will be able do something with their free eye (that being the one not getting the mascara treatment at the time...)
I fully agree. I installed this "live" version on a 6500 this past Friday, toyed with it, then off to a Linux Installfest on Saturday for the full version. The install of the "live" version took about 2 minutes, the install of the full less than 5. I get more impressed everyday.

It's interesting to see that Intercourse is not too far from Buyertown. Coincidence? I think not.....

Ummm....Alan who?
All these acronyms, so little time.

Up 50% in 2 days.....
zing!
Will the GAP do onsite calls if I find a bug in my shorts?
Or a short in my trousers?
How will this force moths to evolve?
When I throw my clothes together in a pile will they Beowulf?
Will the drycleaners stop going through my pockets looking for stray homeless 5spots and just try to hack into my zipper for my financial info?
I find this fearful only because I still use the rock slab to do my wash.

Damn.....now religion is putting it's soiled hands upon our pristine enviroment? Is nothing sacred?
Looks like my old '68 SAAB Sonnett.....hell, had I known I would've garaged it and been $3000 closer to building one myself....
