What makes grappler's posts more important than the rest that his posts start life at +2 automatically?

Because my posts speak the Truth, which is outlined for us in the Word which He gave us. Everyone knows that good Karma goes to followers of the Word.

This is reasoning I would expect from a 6 year old.

And I suppose you won't like this reasoning either:

Is there a God? Well, if there was not a God, what would life mean? Nothing! Is life meaningless? Do you want your life to mean nothing? I sure don't! Therefore, there is a God.

Once you see the light, follow me over and try Jesus for yourself.

For your enjoyment, you can also check out www.wwjd.com, which presents a silly attempt at a new "hip", "totally rad", "awesome" and "amazing" face for Christianity, thus making it "cool" and "with it".

They are creatures of a more demonic sort, and since their skin is not pure and white like that of decent folk, they are born hellbound, and need to know their place. Of course, some of the "softer" Christians make vallient efforts to convert the starving masses with a "food for conversions" type program. I wish them the best, even though they will burn in hell for associating with the filthy commoners.

I personally couldn't ge glader to see the court's decision on school prayer. I don't like seeing the "free speech" card played in this one because then the bible thumping republicans pounce on it, as if a kid going to the microphone on graduation day with backing from the administration to say some born-again prayer for the benefit of the "saved" in the audience were protected speech. Blech.

You know, it's the parents and sunday school teachers of those kids that do it - they send there kid up there, and you know what they're thinking: "hehe, we got around the rule! it's the kid that's saying the prayer, so it's free speech". In general need of a smack.

I read a summary of the decision, and it looked great to me. Didn't read the actual text though.

What I don't understand is why THREE JUDGES were AGAINST it. That's the legacy of those twelve years that we had Reagan and Bush, I suppose.

Vote for Harry Browne. He won't win, but it'll make more of a diffence (to increase the legitimacy and recognition of the Libertarian party) than anything else you can do with your vote.

  23. Of RoShamBo and the Princess Bride on Rock-Paper-Scissors · · Score: 4

It's just like that game in the movie "Princess Bride", where a man reasons that to poison your drinking partner, you put the poison into your own glass. If he is suspicious he will switch with you when your back is turned, and will bring about his own doom. However, if he is a step cleverer than that, it becomes impossible to outsmart him - as the reverse-reverse psychologies pile up, the game boils down to random chance. Of course, the hero in the movie knew this and poisoned both glasses. After his opponent got thorougly lost in a maze of pseudo-logic, he took his poison and that was that.

That's the kind of visual image I get of someone trying to write a program that would win this contest - the "inconceivable!" guy from princess bride.

I wonder how a simple markov chain would do. That's where the probability of every move is based on the outcome of the previous game. For instance, "2 of the 3 times his rock beat my paper, his next move was scissors, so since his rock just beat my paper again, I'll anticipate scissors this time and go rock." I think this kind of reasoning would beat your typical human roshambo player in the long run, since a human would typically have a certain response based on what just happened.

Obviously, it's different with a computer. The program might anticipate this kind of thing, and has no general "feeling" that would you any reason to link a round to the one that came before. The more I think about this, the more I think it's just a matter of guessing right what other people will do.

I'm going to pull out an old arguement: if EVERYONE used encryption, whether or not they have 'something to hide', it would be impossible to monitor them. I'd like to see this done in the U.S. but in China, echelon is very, very real.

It is 1984 in China RIGHT NOW.

Perhaps the U.S. of A. finally has a good reason for export of strong encryption, eh? Democracy, anyone?
