Somehow Internet has made people to forget that creating quality content costs money. Often a lot of money. Often with these kind of things I'm really surprised at how dumb nerdy people can be too. You know, us who should know better and not be those stupid sheeps who are happy have a "mindless" job and then watch tv for rest of the evening and still enjoy it, even if theres no mentally requiring tasks involved.
But all the while a lot of people, mostly us geeks, cannot grasp that immaterial products and content also costs to create and takes just the same manhours. This is usually the same thing on discussions about piracy too - there's always someone pointing out that "duplicating" that content to sell it to you doesn't cost anything. Really? Are we really that dumb? That may not cost much, but it's creating it that does and those costs are got back from selling it to people. A lot of times a lot later, with some forms of entertainment even years later.
That would be great actually. There's just so many possibilities with the portals if you played together with other people. It's also technically possible as the portal gun can be used in Garry's Mod and other games too. I sure wish it will have multiplayer.
Theres better change for that be possibility than on iPad or other devices - Android can already be run in Windows Mobiles and generally Windows doesn't restrict you from installing another OS. Though driver and such support has to be done for it, obviously.
But for browsing the web, that big, uninterrupted iPad window is pretty nice.
The lack of Flash support kind of throw that option out already. And since Courier is Windows CE, I'm pretty sure it will have flash support out of the box, and other browsers like Opera too.
And I would also imagine it being a lot better to hold. Notebook or laptop aren't exactly comfortable on bed/sofa/other place than on a table, but books surely are.
I must admit it does look awesome though. It's just perfect for use on sofa, as booklet is held like, well, a book. Laptop nor tablet aren't as nice and comfortable. There's no way I'll be buying the locked down tablet-like iPad when this is coming up.
There were some cliffhangers though, like the reference to that ship and other stuff. Also;
After she has destroyed the final piece, a portal malfunction tears the room apart and transports everything to the surface. Chell is then seen lying outside the facility's gates amid the remains of GLaDOS. In the PC version, Chell is then dragged away from the facility by an unseen figure speaking in a robotic voice, thanking her for assuming the "party escort submission position" (a reference to GLaDOS requesting that she assume this position after escaping).[25] This retcon was added to the PC version in an update on March 3, 2010.
It seems Valve added another cliffhanger in very recent update.
I have actually always wondered about this. I remember how we had to write a school subject about "chinese superhackers" newspaper article in the early 2000's. The Google thing was also showed off to be a work of amateurs, not some Chinese superhackers working for their government. For me it just starts to look like trying to put fear into people for whatever personal reason. "Chinese hackers working for their country to break into US systems" sure sounds cool and creates fear in people, but is there any actual truth behind it? As it is now it's almost like cold war carried over to new technological area. It also looks to be a common thing here on slashdot too - without actually even questioning if theres any truth behind it.
It was mainly a joke, but if you do want to get technical, it's possible by rewriting the GMail Drive filesystem driver to handle multiple accounts for storage.
The Red Star is based on Linux, a free and open software operating system, but looks a lot like the Microsoft Windows on display. It also has a similar user interface.
The desktop display of Red Star is almost identical to that of MS Windows.
A Red Star logo is shown on the lower left corner of the screen where MS Windows has a start button. It has most of the basic MS Windows icons such as a Trash Bin and My Computer. Only, the names of the icons are slightly different from the Korean version of MS Windows.
Application programs such as a Web browser and a word processor which also resemble MS products come in separate discs.
Same complaint with pornos really, they all seem to have way too much sex in them, imho.
Gotta add another point here. While I like porn, I also don't like it to extremes. Soft porn, where they don't show that much, can be really great too. It teases you. Games could use more of that kind of thing, instead of putting you shooting everyone all the time.
well all she needs now is to read over your shoulder, or know your slashdot nick. Probably not too much to worry about but I would have posted anonymous.
Remember, we are on slashdot - we know computers.
Personally I use Opera for my browsing habits. But Firefox is set as default browser so girlfriend always just opens it, or if she clicks on a link Firefox opens. It's a good setup for both to not let her mess your browser session and so she doesn't see your witty slashdot comments about ex-girlfriends.
Exactly. Laws state you don't need to say anything even if you're being questioned. Where I life it's also voluntary to go into lie detector test. Something like mind reading device would be completely out of question.
Actually, as of recently the Flash spec is available without restrictions
But Flash still uses H.264 too. I don't see too many people, either normal web users, webmasters or those making Flash applets complaining.
It's good you reject closed-source products by principles, I wish I would too. But the reality is, people just want the best performing tool for the job and frankly the older I get the more I think so too. I had these fundamentalist ideas in late teen years, but then I faced the real world. Now I pick the right tool for the job, be it open source or closed. I use Windows on desktop because I game and think the experience is better, while still giving me freedom to mess around with the system. I use Linux on servers because they perform a lot better and command line usage with servers is a lot better, and in that case and scriptability Windows doesn't come even close. But fundamentalism and closed mindset in the end is just stupid.

No, real men use Webdings.

What's wrong with booklet though? I think it's quite illustrative as it has two screens and you hold it like a book, and close the same way too.
Half-Lifes and Portal are already available on 360 and PS3 too.
The article linked in the summary goes to wrong link (the same we discussed about in September)
Correct article with info. Picture gallery is here.

Come on Valve... some time before 2020 would be nice.
I actually rather take Portal 2 than new HL2 Episode 3 as its so much fresher from other games. Great it indeed was Portal 2.
Where did you get the t's from? it's dramannh0nee. No idea what that means though.

Unlimited space with several accounts.
And they still had to make it look like Windows:
The Red Star is based on Linux, a free and open software operating system, but looks a lot like the Microsoft Windows on display. It also has a similar user interface.

You're missing the point. I know how to convert them to play on PS3, but that still doesn't make PS3 support Matroska.
Talk about missing his point.

That's good to hear, but it still doesn't work with PS3, 360 or other devices I have :-)
