I suppose...but in years to come don't think something like "Alien vs. Predator" is perhaps more official sounding than "AVP"?

Resivoir Dogs would never be RD, A Clockwork Orange is never ACO, and if you can even tell what movie DBAMTSCWDYJITH is, I'll declare you...well...capitain ovbious, probably.

My point is that if they're going to make a movie, especially one for the dedicated fans, they should have more...respect, I suppose, for the film than marketing gimmicks. It tends to cheapen the experience. I probably would have thought much less of the bad reviews and perhaps seen LXG (word-of-mouth, didnt' read any "real" reviews), had it not looked corny due to that. That being said, I've heard that probably saved me some money, so I suppose perhaps it was all good; that however, is exactly what worries me about this movie. It makes me feel like I'm going to watch pro wrestling or something. "NEXT ROUND: LGX vs HHH". It might be a great movie, but people will say "Christ, that looks cheesy."

That being said, I haven't seen it (obviously). Grain of salt not included.

We all know how well LXG did. Ever since ID4 was so popular...*sigh* AVP isn't even that good of an abbriviation. Ashcroft Vs. Powell? Anti-Virus Protection? Always Verify Postings? Avril laVigne's Poontang? It's like they're trying to market to the Internet hype crowd by "giving" us an official acronym/abbrivitation/initial-shortened spelling, whatever they want to call it. Hey guys if your movie is worth a shit after the 8 years you spent pretending it was comming out, we'll dub it what we feel worthy. Perhaps less on marketing and more on "movie" and you wont' have to worry about us giving it some other name like FPC - Festering Pile of Crap.

Erm, perhaps i should see it first before I call it crap. But marketing ploys like this sure make it look like they have something to hide. :-\

Which is why I buy the cheap Schick (heh) knock-off of the Mach3, which works well enough. When it comes to something that needs to last me a long time, I'll be glad to invest some money, but for everyday throwaway things like ink or razors, cut me a deal.

It does make me think, however...on average an ink cartredge will last a while, so they're not always purchased that frequently. Therefore, in order to maintain enough cash reserves, this could mean that the price of ink will remain the same and printers will go up. Eek.

If you could get around that, perhaps it would be feasable...but it really does sound quite far fetched (no offense).

The only reason humans can use speech to effciently communicate with each other is that along with speech comes tone, body language, and symantic context that conveys as much (if not more) information than the vocal message itself. Computers cannot pick up on those kinds of things.
I suppose in conjunction with a camera, a system could be designed that could use body language combined with speech recognition (Mozilla could use actual gestures?), but the rest is nothing short of requiring AI of some sort.

That being said, I find many useful things to do with voice recognition. Simple commands, especually ones that can respond with synthesized speech, are most effective, something like "Check time". I can watch where I'm walking or driving and not have to look away at a clock.
