    All new windows in tabs: Tab Mix Plus (okay, it's bloated, some people say - but you asked for it) has a Single Window Mode. It is what it sounds like.

    change skin without restarting the application: the Mozilla Labs folk have Personas. Also, should you be using Windows, AnyColor works even better.

    It is also very possible that she'll be too depressed to consider filing a lawsuit. A lawsuit is a pretty big thing to consider when you can barely even consider getting out of the house without someone dragging you along.

    Hardware acceleration of text and pictures is one thing. Javascript performance is quite another. What with all this AJAX and Javascript stuff out on the web these days, what IE badly needs is a really good Javascript engine. Two school computers, one running Chrome (out of my home directory - bad sysadmin!) and the other running IE8, have very obvious differences in their Javascript speed on a benchmarking test (Sunspider, FYI). (They're school computers, their hardware should be exactly the same, their uptime should be exactly the same, etc. etc.)

    So, where is Microsoft going in this category?

    You can download Interix for WinXP Professional - yes, Interix is a certified Unix with all the trimmings. I haven't done it myself, but I hear it's very acceptable.

    If you do not conform to the tolerances specified by other people who think it's fun to ostracize people and need arbitrary criteria to base that on, you are a defective widget and must be either corrected or replaced.

    The problem is that Windows doesn't tell apart the light green bit (cache) from the dark green bit (memory actually being used by programs). Which one accounts for the 700MB? You can't tell, on Windows. That is what the GP was complaining about.

    I've only just gotten over H1N1 myself, and I can tell you I didn't have any vaccinations in the past twelve months. Battle of the dueling anecdotes, anyone?

    More likely is that while you were there receiving the vaccination, some dope who was in line sneezed on everyone.
