In Portugal it's mandatory since 2009 to equip new buildings with fiber optic cabling from the front door to each apartment, two fibers for every client, and a telecom cabinet housing equipment ready to be connected to the service provider.
There is nothing (new) to be afraid of.
Many countries in Europe are already establishing their own citizen's online identification framework for state services. This document only defines the need for all the systems to be inter-operative. Enough with the Big Brother mambo-jambo.
The URL of the hovered link made sense up there, and the implementation was even better because we could see the end of the URL. Now in beta 12 I can't see if I'm clicking a link to a.exe file or to an html page.... when the link url is long enough.
I wish I could have an option to display it back to the location bar. Besides, the new method doesn't show the url in the status bar. Even if I turn it on it still displays in a little popup in the lower screen.
CFL's can be nasty, but try buying a good decent Phillips CFL. It's costs 10 euros or more.... but it will give you quality light for years. I have a couple of those and they turn on instantly without any flickering or humming. Don't trust your eyes to a 10p bulb.
Alternatively you can buy LED's, more expensive but also with a more natural light.
My classroom usually only has 10 students and all of them have their laptop always on and the teacher is talking alone. No one even looks at the teacher or talks during the wole "class".
You can't build a learning environment like this.

The exact same thought stops me from reading the rest of the story. I always get stucK in Caizen.
If we have one space ship moving at 70% the speed of light and another one from the opposite direction moving towards the first ship also at 70% the speed of light... then they're both moving above light speed relative to each other. So it looks possible.
It has nothing to do with driving or any kind of expertise needing a license. It's a digital identity card.
What if the case involved a home owner? Someone got killed in a backyard, so the owner of the house has to be the one who's guilty. No trial needed.
It can worth almost as much as a paid version of Openoffice. Now that's potential!
Did they gave you "Kane Madness"? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aV2eCTRFJbY

Agreed. This would be unthinkable in Europe, and we're getting a rough time to find jobs interviews, worse than America.

I'm using Xubuntu 11.10 right now after switching from Fedora 15 and I couldn't be happier. Or you could just install the Xfce desktop on Fedora.

The only way Microsoft manages to keep Windows safe is by reducing usability.

That's old news. In Portugal we're already developing a nation wide Fiber to the Home network. Everyone gets a fiber with 100Mb.
