With OpenGL 2.0 shaders and ARB_float_textures, you have full floating support throughout the pipeline.
And GPGPU can be done with OpenGL 2.0 - approx. 10 months ago, we presented a Marching Cubes implementation in OpenGL 2. 0 that even outperforms its CUDA competitor... and the algorithms can just as well be ported to Direct 3D 9 (_nine_...).

So donÂt throw out the GPGPU baby with the floating point bathwater;)
When I read Symbiosis on a stop-by at Kuala Lumpur Airport, see http://www.symbiosisonline.com/, I got the feeling that the Technology Park in KL is trying to attract Western Engineers by providing them with a luxurious working environment in regard to comfort, personal care and resources, even if the payment probably is mediocre.
If I had to choose between a stressful job/high payment and an offer from there, I could still easily be tempted to go to Malaysia:-)

Thank you very much for sharing these insights ! I've also considered this, but the question is: when is the right age for that ? When you have been some years in the industry and know some potential business contacts already ? Or later ?
Just had a look at www.mandrakeclub.com and wanted to sign up for membership in their club, to support this fine distribution... but then I saw the price: 60 Euros/year ?!?
I swallowed twice, thought about it, but still wanted to give it a try (after writing a serious remark to them on the order page, hoping that they tell me if the company breaks down) - then I came to the payment page, and saw that 16% VAT were added....
That was too much.
I gladly pay up to, say, 30 $ to support the company - but more than that, and especially yearly, no, sorry, not currently.
Linux Media Labs actively supports the development of MJPEG video editing cards in Linux by providing cards, specs and development time, e.g. to the MJPEG/Linux driver/application project
What about Linux support for 3D and video ? Does it provide an OpenGL and Video4Linux interface in Linux ? Otherwise I'm not interested (as if that matters;) )
3DS Max already has a (half-open) file format for that - it's called Rich Pixel Format (RPF) - you can find a reader for it in the "Io"-directory of the MAX SDK (gz at lysator.liu.se)
I don't think this is going to happen that soon. 20 years sounds a little bit to fast for me... and if Windows still is mainstream then, then we are still at approx. the same level as we are now...
You should _not even have to_ ask yourself this question - healthcare should never put such responsibility into an affected person's hand!
The US seriously needs to fix its healthcare system.
So what _is_ the long term result of the decision?

Darn, I meant the AEC center, which :-)
is part of the AEC concept
But there is already a museum of the future , the Ars Electronica Center ! It's in Linz, Austria. :)
