How about the ultimate 3D printing box? I don't mean something that is out right now, I mean you just think up something new for it and it appears. 1 Terrahertz not fast enough? Think of a 10 Terrahertz chip and see it appear out of a magic 3D printer box that is attached to your head. Screaming machine. Then again if this 3D printing box could do this then it would mean never having to buy a computer part again and never have to buy software. Think up a new bug-free ultimage 3D shooter and watch the software disks pop out to install :)

  3. Error :) on Nintendo Unveils GAMECUBE At Spaceworld 2000 · · Score: 2

The GAMECUBE was shown to select people actually at SpaceWorld, the GameBoy Advanced was the main thing there for the public. Also, the GAMECUBE was NOT playable there (only Miyamoto played a few simple demos). It was on demo and to keep people wondering no one was allowed to hold the controller, only look at it. Way back at the "Europe's version of E3" headline I posted about the GAMECUBE being revealed but done in a way to not allow you to know much about the system and what it can really do. Just alot of eye candy. http://cube.ign.com has some great information too. The GAMECUBE will be revealed at E3 AND be playable THERE (not at Spaceworld) and be the main spotlight. Hemos, sorry to say, but this headline is Outta date.

  4. Bid Maxed Out on F*ckedCompany.com For Sale - On eBay · · Score: 1

I thought I would note that EBay is maxed out on this item at $10,000,000.00. Here is a note from someone that retracted their bid (and someone else shortly took their spot).

Retracted. Bids prior to Sep-11-00 10:15:34 PDT have been retracted.
Explanation: Oh hell, maxed out Ebay, doesnt look like someone will outbid me now

  5. Nintendo Game Cube (codename Dolphin) on Europe's Version of E3 · · Score: 2

The Game Cube was shown however only to select people. It was shown 1 day before E3 opened up and was shown behind close doors. IGN has a whole writeup on the Game Cube at http://cube.ign.com.
The Game Cube blows away the first generation Playstation 2 games. The Game Cube and Controller were only shown and was not allowed to be played with. Nintendo has alot of stuff it showed for power yet it still has alot of stuff to pull out of it's hat. Even the controller is a new design taking the best of numerous controllers. The controller is suppose to "melt in your hand" from it being so comfortable but very few people (mostly inhouse developers) have actually held it.

  7. My setup... on GNOME, Security, Linux, and Cable Modems? · · Score: 1

486 with a 10mbit network card? get another card and your going. Unless your cable modem manages to break the 10mbit/sec line i doubt you'll see speed issues from it (I ran on a cable modem for 8 computers without issue with ip masquerading for a year). The specs on the 486 don't have to be alot either, I ran off of 8MB of ram and a 500MB harddrive. If you do not want to do ip masquerading then here are some ideas/steps 1. of course kill all services you do not need 2. look into PortSentry, I have it setup in advanced mode on all ports. What it does is block IPs that try to connect to a non-open port. 3. you would be smart to have ssh run on a port other than 22, the reason for this is that people trying to actually gain access will hit a non-open port, and if #2 was done then they aren't going to get another chance to hit the correct port. 4. don't run old software. This sounds simple but some people just don't realize that kernels 2.2.16 have a security hole and don't keep other software up to date either. 5. you could look into IP-Chains and configure it to block incoming connects on the ports that you can not close that are from the outside (while still allowing internal connects). This is probably the easiest but not always thought of. Samuel (@Lightspeed.cx)
