  1. Fanatics! on Examining the HTML 5 Video Codec Debate · · Score: 1

IMHO pushing open source codec is plain ridiculous. The H264 is a open standard which is widely used. Note that H264 is a sucessor to MPEG2 which is used for 20 years now.
Changes in this area are happening every 20 years and there is a place for only one codec. It is very well standarized and so on. The guys who wants to standarize the HTML 5 doesnt really know what means to standarize over many years and what standards are made for.
Everything goes in the direction of H264 Part 10 (The open one version), even latest FLASH PLAYER is licencing H264 codec from MAIN CONCEPT.
I think guys who are pushing this are just plain fanatics of opensource and they do not understand the openness of standards etc.

  4. Re:What will be powering our cars 10 years from on Vinod Khosla Talks Ethanol · · Score: 1

For example, in Poland, 30% of sold fuel is prophane-butane. In germany some buses use hydrogen.
Popularity of gasoline with addition of bio sumplements also rises (in europe).
In Brasil, gasoline contains 25% of ethanol produced from sugar cane.

The current trend is to mix pure fuel with suplements producent from biological material or to use "what you have".

So there is no need to discuss ethanole-powered cars. It is already economicaly proven idea in coutries where sugar cane grows good.

If cell phones have this cool feature there is no way that someone will not make some use them, hehehe :)
Two years ago it was possible to do this without assistance of GSM operator with $20.000 worth GSM sniffer / tracker device. Now it is somewhat harded but still posible.
Pre GSM phones where not using any real encryption at all and everyone was happy hehehe ;)
