    I agree, "The End of Eternity" is his masterpiece. In my opinion its the best book ever written.

    that's because sci-fi writers 'predict' stuff that they (and most of other people) would like to become real. so scientists and inventors work on them. and with enough time and money you get something that resembles the prediction. the writers never give you enough details, so its not a true prediction after all.

    it is obvious they are referring to one kind of SSD failure that is predictable.
    a lightning strike for eg. is quite unpredictable, and it might cause SSD/HDD failure.

    I think the biggest issue here is that its much harder to read from eink (let alone LCD) than from paper. That's probably bad for eyes in long run.

    hard drives do get hotter with a lot of writing/reading. iirc, I noticed a difference of at least 5deg C.

    well whats stopping you from sending 'email' using point-to-point connection? iirc, good old modems could connect at 33k.
    then there are leased lines.
    if both ends use the same ISP, maybe sending it with cable or adsl modem is as much secure.

    then why not define logical block size to be as large as NAND page? or defragment the thing. if that NAND page is rather large, OS makers should refrain from using multitude of small files.

    and you sound like a troll.. its not a good idea to write several Gb to a flash storage on every shutdown just to have slightly faster boot.
    perhaps boot wouldn't be faster at all, given that it doesn't matter much to SSD whether its sequential or random read.
