That is why I play now Oblivion and even Morrowind.
For what it's worth, I still consider Morrowind to be the most enjoyable Elder Scrolls game. Skyrim is better than Oblivion, but only because they actually made the world interesting (like Morrowind; Oblivion was mostly boring to explore). The skill system in Oblivion and Morrowind is superior (IMO) to Skyrim, because Skyrim is much more streamlined with the elimination of athletics and acrobatics skills (I know I'm in the minority for preferring those skills, but I think they are fun to advance).
Also, I imagine other MMOs are dealing with greater data than EVE is, so 3000 may not be an apples to apples comparison.
Regardless, if you read the article you'll see some pretty interesting methods that they use to handle server load issues (interesting to me, anyway, but I am not an admin).
It's even worse with EA now that they've decided that they can beat Valve at their own game and require you to use the awful Origin system. There is literally no incentive to use Origin over Steam, except that many of EA's games can only be run through Origin. Unfortunately for EA, it's rare for them to release a game worth using Origin for. Mass Effect 3 was the only one for me, and now that I rarely boot into Windows, it's unplayable (not because the game doesn't work with WINE, it does, but because Origin won't work with WINE).
FWIW, while playing Civ V, my (at the time) high-end gaming PC would take forever to generate turns towards end-game. That may have had something to do with poor optimization of the Python code they ended up using for much of the game, however.
Because it serves to keeping the American population docile about our terrible justice system. If you think about the (far too many) inmates in prison as people who may be serving time unjustly or at least disproportionately to their crimes, you might get upset and expect change. If you think of them as animals who are getting raped as a form of penance to society, then you can blissfully go back to living in ignorance.
Why does everyone assume that because I can draw a line between Islamist extremists and Anonymous that I am an Anonymous "hacktivist"? Nowhere did I state that I support vigilantism, or the Anonymous cause, just that I think it's unfair to compare the two in that way.
I am quite looking forward to having the option of some lucrative consulting income in my early retirement should I decide I need it.:-)
Then my goal is to thwart your retirement plan. I will contract a low-wage programmer from a yet-to-be-determined developing country to write a piece of software that corrects the issue in any source code and recompiles it for you. I'll sell licenses for $1kUSD a pop, which by 2038 will only be enough to cover the cost of a McDonalds Synthetic Cheeseburger Paste from the Value Menu.
I'm sorry, but you are the one who is clueless. I stated that Anonymous typically only targets groups who are actively messing with other people. If you can't understand why that's different than an Islamist group targeting someone for just being someone they don't like, then you are a moron.
To be fair, Anonymous typically only targets groups that fuck with them or people they don't think should be fucked with. From what I see here, Kate wasn't messing with anyone, she was just posting a journal.
Better yet, open source the Source Engine (but keep content licensed, much like how you still need to buy Doom 3 to play it with the open source engine) and let the community help you do it.
If that's the only thing you can find wrong with Python, then I think that speaks much more good about the language than bad. When I first started playing with Python, I got tripped up a few times about inconsistent use of tabs vs spaces, but I have vim configured to take care of that for me now. Even if I want something fast or low-level, I will typically compile a shared object file for some C code, and then wrap it up in Python with Python's ctypes API. This gives me a good trade-off of the performance and predictability of compiled C and the ease-of-use of Python for more trivial code.
A kid who learns JavaScript will very much be able to learn compiled languages later on in life if he/she so chooses. You don't have to have been born in the 1960s to become a competent programmer.
This. If you decompile the Java bytecode in Minecraft, you will see that it uses lwjgl (LightWeight Java Game Library) which uses JNI (Java Native Interface) to get access to native OpenGL objects. There's no reason why this couldn't have been done in a natively compiled language, except that Notch started Minecraft as a quick project.
I think GP was saying he expected to see a Javascript implementation created within Minecraft using redstone circuits (there are folks who have created working CPUs using redstone circuits).
Then neither is the individual who discovered the vulnerability, as he was also funding the administration until the administration would no longer allow him to.
I tried GNOME 3 when it was still pretty new, didn't like it very much, and switched to another desktop. I've heard it's improved a lot so I'll probably give it another shot in the near future, but it's not a big priority for me because XFCE is already extremely usable and configurable.
Yes, the average petition currently wouldn't make the cut at 100,000 signatures in the allotted time-frame. They're trying to cut back the number they are required to address; isn't eliminating the current average ones sort of the point?

Nope. According to Wikipedia, 20th Century Fox and Fox Entertainment Group are both owned by News Corporation, so GP is just a typical AC moron.

'[it] was commissioned by Microsoft to HP Consulting for internal purposes only.'
Which of course is why they publicly claimed the 43.7M Euro figure.

I agree. Who was unaware of this? When did Slashdot become an aggregate for COMP SCI 101 courses and Learn to Program in 24 Hours books?

This is a very smart reply, isn't it??
You must be new here.

Remind's me of The Onion's World of World of Warcraft.
No more than any other mod which is only available for Minecraft on PC (which I assume is all of them, but I've never played the Xbox version).

I think he meant online part as in Bing and perhaps Skype.

My experience mostly matches this, although I've also seen a decent bit of SPARC Solaris as the platform of choice.
