I think it is important to consider what he does with the money he receives from the movie. If he spend millions of dollars backing anti-gay rights movements, then it is perfectly reasonable for someone to boycott the movie, even if it is not directly related to his views.

Exactly. The average movie-goer was likely to be completely ignorant of Card's stance on homosexuality and his activities in that regard. It is likely that he has brought a lot more attention to that than there would be if he had just kept his mouth shut.

The point is that the term "web browser" is outdated. Today, web browsers are essentially compatibility platforms for running non-utility type software. The point is being able to create an application or game and allowing your users to decide what operating system they want to use, or whether they want to run your software on a desktop, tablet, or phone. It's possible to do those things natively, but it typically requires a lot of support and testing.

Have you thought that perhaps you aren't doing these things on your browser because they have been previously unsupported, slow, or lacking critical features of native clients? There was a time when videos weren't watched on a computer, because a computer was for performing math calculations. We do more things on a computer now because computers have gotten better at doing them. The same goes for web browsers, which are nice as a mostly standardized platform for running software on a variety of clients.

I apologize if that's how I came across. I certainly think it is possible that high-performing women might be outperforming their male peers. And you're right, I should have asked for a citation rather than give a possible explanation. I just saw what looked like a flaw in the analysis of whatever study was being referenced, but of course I couldn't know that without a citation.

It seemed like what the GP was suggesting was that when women chose not to have children, they will be more likely to succeed than men. Since men also make career sacrifices for family (although not to the same extent, biologically), I thought (based on my assumptions of what the study was suggesting) it was unfair to compare women who neglect to have children with men who may or may not neglect to have children. My point was not to suggest that because women are not superior, that they are in fact inferior. I think to suggest that any group, whether its based on gender, race, or hair color, is superior to another, is something which shouldn't be taken lightly and certainly not mentioned casually without a rigorous breakdown of the analysis.

I have a 360, and played it plenty more than I ever did my Wii. Nowadays most of the non-exclusive AAA games are being released on 360, PS3, as well as PC (although sometimes the PC port comes a bit later). Granted, some of the "special" features of the new consoles (forced Kinect, the touchpad on the PS4 controller) will probably limit how games get ported. I always buy the Nintendo console each generation not as a primary gaming device, but because I still love Nintendo's first party games (particularly the Zelda games).

It's funny watching my Xbox fanboy friends making ridiculous apologetic statements for Microsoft.
"You have to pay for online access for the PS4 now as well!" As though that's actually a supportive argument for the Xbox One.
"I'm glad there is always-on DRM so that I can download and play my games on other people's consoles while signed in!" As though MS is incapable of making the 24 connection requirement only necessary for digitally purchased games, and allow you to only play disc-purchased games when you have the disc.
"I always have internet, so this isn't a problem for me!" As though Xbox Live has never been down for several days at a time before (or been weird about not letting large numbers of people sign in while others have no problem)

I've never been a Sony fan, and I still don't know if I can trust the company that pulled the rootkit scandal. What I do know is that I am absolutely not going to a be a Microsoft customer this next generation. I will probably get a Wii U to play 1st party Nintendo games, and do the rest of my gaming on PC. Sony still has a shot at convincing me to get a PS4, but Microsoft has already lost me.

For simple games, HTML5 and JS allow you to write it quickly and easily distribute to many platforms. Sounds like you are just as bitter and old as the GGP.
