Personally, I see no reason for developers to feel obligated to support clueless users. It's not the developers, I'm sure, who want clueless users. Why put up with constant whining, bitching, and moaning when in all likelihood you're not making any money on the venture?
Yea, and the profit of the venture will never rise either, with that POV.
Aol did a good job of filling the Internet with more crappy users than "in the know" users. Maybe they can fill the Internet with more crappy browser users instead of IE users. (not that IE is any better)
How about warning sites that they are going to get slashdotted. That way they can take the necessary measures for the boost in traffic. Especially if they are running Linux.
Please stop linking to people web sites that cannot handle the slashdot affect. At least warn the sites beforehand becuase they might be running Linux.
I even got up in front of my local Linux Users Group to ask for help and suggestions. All I got were some snide remarks about "Well, that's Samba for you..." and some shrugged shoulders. I hope all LUGs are not like that, but for some reason it sounds like the typical Linux User.
Holy cow, that game had it all! Had the puzzles of regular Ultima's and the awesome (well back then awesome) 3d graphics with up and down views. And an eery ambiance that has yet to be copied.
Does Gimp support 6Color print processes? Does Gimp even support CMYK conversion (4Color Print)? (?yet?) Until then, whats the point unless you make webpages or backgrounds?
From dslreports.com IDSL is DSL at 144 kbps. IDSL uses ISDN transmission coding, bunding together both ISDN channels and voice all on one circuit. IDSL does not use any kind of dial up nor involve per-call fees. For those that live too far for regular DSL, IDSL may be the only DSL option. IDSL tends to be priced at a rather higher rate per bit of speed, than any regular DSL. IDSL can still be a very satisfactory solution for data transmission compared to the alternatives (modem), coping very well with online gaming, and medium quality streaming audio/video.
Pretty much sums up what I said, with my comment on price/value added.
The $90 144kbps line is not true DSL, it is just 2 ISDN lines that are always connected so you never have to dial. They provide this for people that cannot get "true" DSL. Its kinda a joke that you have to pay more for less though.
Why does not someone make an OS that does not give a crap about security, or multi-user stuff. I am the only one that uses my computer, so why should I be brought down by crap that I dont need. Someone needs to make an OS and API that is dedicated to FAST graphics/sound/Network performance. And no MAC OS does not fit the bill. I think this "new" OS would be very successful.
Umm, until this article, I thought Linux was "lean" and optimized more than Windows. Well these tests prove that wrong. You might say "Its a damn game, who cares". Well games are a VERY important factor as to why Windows is so successful. Stuff runs faster on "bloated" Windows. All my question is "Why?". As much hype as Linux is getting about its speed and optimization, why do these figures show otherwise?
They probably get so much flak for this, after their sellout album Black. Its really sad, this whole Napster/Metallica thing just proves their "selloutness". Cliff 'em All!
They pay big bucks for the radio frequency maybe. Just like mp3.com pays big bucks for bandwidth. I sersiously doubt radio stations have to pay for the Singles that they play. Its only in the record company's best interests to give music away to radio stations. If not, then they deserve to be pirated.

Ahhh... nothing like getting rid of BLOAT!!!

oops, moderators please moderate that -1. Its backup.

Why are you guys coding at all on Bastille Day? You should be watching the Tour!

Did you really need to flame like that?
Out tax dollars at work...
Sure, you can play on Linux, but you're not really enticing anyone to convert.
Since when is it the developer's job to "convert" users to use Linux?

Sunday afternoon, an American wore the Yellow Jersey in Paris.
That's cause bandwidth is nothing these days. It's cheap, and getting cheaper.
Bandwidth is everything to those of us that live in rural areas, and dont have access to DSL or cable internet access.
Its amazing how much bandwidth is being thrown around like nothing these days.
Question: Do any Slashdot readers really think SPAM is an effective form of advertising?
On a sidenote - go gimp!

With that attitude, you better be posting that comment using a 300baud modem, on an original IBM PC.

I find what radio is doing is no different than what mp3.com is doing. Just another distribution media.
