  1. Re:Huh? on CPAN: $677 Million of Perl · · Score: 0

My point was that nearly every perl project that I have been associated with, including the ones on sourceforge, are large projects with "more than one file."

Single-file perl projects are hardly a commonality and that is not the role the language seems to fill.

I don't know of any perl SourceForge projects that have only one file.

Every one that I've started or worked on has 10s of library (package) files, templates, etc.

Just a thought, but wouldn't the money go to the (supposed) state of the artist's residence, and not NY?

What if the artist has an address Tahoe and they can't find him? Does it make sense that New York would get the money rather than Nevada?

Well what if you went to jail for a year because of a simple moving violation?

I think the main part of the issue is whether or not the punishment fits the crime, as well as the manner in which the MPAA, theaters and authorities are hounding down people with video equipment.

This is really interesting since anyone hosted by SourceForge is required to use SSH and SCP to get to their shell accounts and transfer files. It would be nice to see the people producing SRP put it up on SourceForge if they haven't already. For those of you who dont know, sourceforge is a free service brought to you by your friends at VA Linux. Its for people who need a place to work and publish Open Source projects and stuff. I love it so far.

These are large companies, and when they throw their weight around, things move.

If you are a resident of Kansas, here is a link: (http://skyways2.lib.ks.us/ksleg/). You can search to find the legislators in your county/city/district. Please, if you do not want this bill passed, email your legislator(s) and give them your opinion, they won't know unless you tell them.

Also, please do not send flames, mailbombs, angry letters, etc. You may think its funny, but in the end you're screwing yourself over as well as everyone else.

I work around 20-25 hours a week (being a full time student). But then I spend around another 20 hours at home writing code (not exactly working, but dangit it feels like work). And in my department, almost all of the full-time employees work around 10 hours workdays, and its not unusual to have my supervisor work 15.

In my opinion, the reason so many people in the Tech Field are working more is because people outside it want the work done fast fast fast! And you just can't churn out content and code as fast as they want it, not to mention the fact that the insist on meddling with every little thing. Its a pain but it pays the bills.
