    Furthermore, the way to use things will be increasingly based on the "programming logic". Understanding the basics of programmation helps to operate efficiently a washing machine, a movie player, a microwave, or, more and more, a car, for instance. iTunes "smart playlists" is another exemple.
    Around me, people who initially (2008) loved the iPhone were primarily people having a scientific/IT background.

    Depending on the resistivity of the antenna, its length is N / 10^12 meters (or *3 in feet). For radio N is ~100. Thus a 100 nm length for a THz frequency.

    Google plays a dangerous game. Ads competitors may call for "unfair competition", as their pages rate are going to be decreased by the Google algorithm.
    In the future, Google may have to prove in front of a court that the algorithm is fair - maybe having experts from external companies doing the audit, taking the risk to give away the most protected program at Google: the heart of the algorithm.

    you must go to iOS 5.0.1 RIGHT NOW and jailbreak or you won't get another chance until 5.1 is hacked

    You could also keep 5.0.1 for as long as necessary, reject the 5.1 upgrade, and jailbreak when you wish. No hurry.

    Nevertheless an important issue is addressed here.
    Software comes with the usual THIS SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" disclaimer. Of course, when it comes to safety / security / health ... one may want to get more than a disclaimer. But there are also (and still) devices where the poor programming (especially in the algorithms / intuitiveness departments) appears to be annoying for the user, while the device cannot be upgraded / updated (washing machines, pocket translaters, microwave, hi-fi...).

    Maybe. The thing is no one knows for sure the effects of GM on human bodies, animal bodies, plant bodies and Evolution in general, over a long period of time.
    Marie Curie discovered the radium (1898) and died of its poisoning (1934), unknown at the time.
    Time will tell.

    - in the seventies nuclear plants were created, expecting all the technical uncertainties to be solved by 2000
    not mentioning studies, novels, sci-fi movies that made an unsuccessful attempt to describe a world in a 30~50 years future
    And they want to predict the world in 100 years from now?

    Seriously, how the server is intended to be handled? Via the command prompt, and its clumsy, counter intuitive, error prone and awkward commands / bat language?
    This is not a flamebait: coming from the unix shells, this is the impression I got during my work with command prompt and .bat.

    - what is our (real programmers) daily work like

    This is what the political circle lacks anyway. Having a basic idea of what is our life, our real problems and constraints, in the real and concrete professional world.

    A number of users reported that after installing Symantec anti-viruses their system was slower, could detect false-positives, or worse, hang.
    So in a way, the "scareware" is not totally wrong, as it warns about a degraded system - which may well be the case after the full product is installed.
