From what I'm seeing, the State Dept forwarded their official response to the Clinton campaign. That doesn't exactly sound sinister to me. The Dept was asked to comment on a particular story about the previous secretary, which they did, and also forwarded her a copy of their response. Should they have not done one of those things since the former secretary was running for office? Should they have said they were going to wait until after the election to comment? It's not like there's some random government agency feeding information to a candidate which they chose by coin flip, this is an agency which is forwarding their response to a formal official that they were just asked about.
I'd love it if there were some major information in all of these emails which they could use to show that some seriously shady business was afoot at the highest levels of government. But, if they have information like that, what the hell are they waiting for? Trump's kids were interviewed a week ago or something talking about a "bombshell" at the end of October. Was this it? What were they waiting for, just biding their time until the perfect moment when defeat seems all but inevitable, as if information like this is going to cause people to flock to Trump? It's all so anti-climactic. I think this is all part of the circus designed to distract all of us from the fact that our entire election process is a complete shit show.
Remember, vote for a Democrat or Republican on the 8th. No one else. Only one of them, one or the other. Pick one. Trust us, we'll stop beating you soon.
Reason he got into sexting. Huma, as per the Qur'an (relevant here, since she's a Muslimah), was supposed to be his tilth. But she was never w/ him, so he ended up sexting w/ other women.
That's exactly right. When your wife, who is your property, has a job or does something else to cause her to not be sexually available to you 100% of the time, then it's your human right to try to fuck other women and make them your property too. Everyone knows that, I'm surprised you even feel the need to point it out. What's equally obvious is that he has very little ego, which may be why he got into politics, and never would have even thought to reach out to other women on his own, but was virtually forced to due to the fact that his wife was literally never with him.
Given that she's probably in the doghouse w/ her boss, Abedin should revoke her separation, go back to Wiener, and embrace Wiener fully. Have 6-7 more kids from him, so that he no longer feels the need to text his wiener to other girls - underaged or not
That's exactly right, she should put her own career and aspirations on hold in order to completely submit to her philandering husband, crank out half a dozen children (because that's exactly what women are supposed to do), and otherwise work at sating his ego in order to stop him from doing what he's always done. It's her fault that he's been cheating on her for years and years, he is not to blame, it is her responsibility to make sure he isn't trying to cheat, and she needs to sacrifice her career to save their relationship, which is obviously totally worth saving.
I'm happy that we agree on so much. Incidentally, I notice that you say you were married, in the past tense. What happened there?
Nowhere near as much as I will when the Orange bufoon loses, cant wait for the butt hurt to flow, good times indeed.
That comment is a perfect expression of what's wrong with the country today. It's not enough that people want their own candidate to win, but it seems like so many people on either side actively want to see the other side suffer. It's toxic. It's a symptom of a much larger problem. If people are driven to violence because of the political process, it's going to be because of that attitude. We have a history in this country of trying to move forward with each other regardless of who the leader is, this toxic mindset of "us versus them" and wanting to see "the other side" suffer is un-American and has no place here.
That testimonial sounds like a commercial for a homeopathic remedy where they aren't allowed to make specific claims.
"Now I sleep better every night, and I know that it's because I take 3 suppositories before bed."
but I tend to keep them twice as long as a cheaper machine
So you're claiming that you buy Macbooks at the same time as cheaper laptops, and you keep the Macbooks twice as long? Or are you saying that "I keep the Macbook for a long time, and I know that it's because it's a high-quality Apple product."
The only time I replace computers is when the current or previous-gen hardware is so much more powerful and at such a low price that it no longer makes sense to continue using the dinosaur that's still chugging away. An Apple logo on the case doesn't make the hardware relevant for any longer.
There are various guides to creating stingray costumes out of towels or bedsheets, and all you'd need to do is add a little antenna or a cell phone on a makeshift fishing pole. If you're in a pinch, though, just grab a cardboard box, roll it around on the ground, and you've a "dirtbox," another form of cell-site simulator manufactured by the Boeing subsidiary Digital Receiver Technology.
"Hey, Bob, thanks for showing up. You're holding a box, what did you bring?"
"I didn't bring anything, this is my costume. This is not just "a box", as you can clearly see it has dirt on the outside from rolling it around on the ground. It is not "a box", it is "a dirtbox". As we all know, "dirtboxes" are devices that emit a strong, and nefarious, cell tower signal, which will cause some nearby cell phones to attempt to connect if the signal is stronger than the one they are receiving from the nearest legitimate cell tower. The operator, such as the US Marshall Service, can use this device to identify nearby cell phones, thus collecting personal information, or simply jam cell phone traffic in the vicinity. The device is produced by a Boeing subsidiary called Digital Receiver Technology, or DRT for short, hence the name "dirtbox", and is a serious threat to our privacy.
The black hats kept what functional, the devices? What about the rest of the internet? They aren't all that worried about keeping things like DNS servers functional. So maybe your camera gets knocked offline until you figure out how to change the default password so that your camera can stop attacking the internet.
Make them liable if they do not start patching their own devices.
That's the long-term solution, which wouldn't do much for the current problem devices that are out there.
Personally, I like the idea of changing the default password. Some people may never see any change, but if someone realizes that they no longer have access to their device then they do a factory reset (1 or more times, depending on how quickly they catch on) before changing the default password themselves.
Perhaps you forgot about the other identical rover that failed (partly from mechanical issues, partly due to rough terrain) around six years ago after several of its wheels failed.
No, I didn't. Only one wheel had failed by the time it got stuck, the other wheel failed while trying to free it (possibly because the very fine soil entered the wheel area). The fact that Opportunity has not become stuck should be an indication that it is possible to reach the landing site. It's a worthy goal to shoot for, anyway - the first on-site images of a spacecraft landing site taken from a different spacecraft.
expecting said rover to traverse a distance several times its entire already vastly extended mission profile is like expecting a tire rated for 20,000 miles under optimal circumstances to traverse 400,000 miles.
Many people expected Opportunity to last for 90 days.
Both rovers have already gone so above and beyond what they were designed to do that it's ridiculous. Might as well give the little guy one more shot at another first on Mars. It would be truly amazing if it made it there, and if it didn't then no one would really be surprised. It would still be able to take more pictures along the way.
Only if they wanted to look at everything along the way (i.e., how the rover has been used so far). If they set that point as a target to reach they *could* get there in a couple months, but they would probably want to go a little slower to take a few pictures along the way and make sure they get enough time to recharge the batteries.
Opportunity is pretty slow, but it's not 4km per year slow. They've just been stopping anywhere and everywhere to look at that rock over there.
He claimed "mission to Mars", not just a lander. Excluding flybys, the first US mission to Mars was Mariner 8, which had a failure of the launch vehicle and crashed into the Atlantic (you can decide for yourself whether failure to leave the Earth constitutes a failed mission to Mars or not). Mariner 9 was the second attempt at an orbiter, which succeeded, and was the first spacecraft to orbit another planet. Mariner 9 beat the Soviet craft Mars 2 to orbit by 13 days, and Mars 3 arrived less than a week after Mars 2. Both Mars 2 and Mars 3 had landers, the one for Mars 2 crashed but was the first spacecraft to reach the surface of another planet, and the Mars 3 lander operated for 110 seconds on the surface. Several years later Viking 1 returned the first images from the surface.
India's first (and only) mission was a success, and you could also consider the first EU mission a success, even though the Beagle 2 lander failed.
It wasn't on wheels, it was on a "crushable structure" designed to cushion the landing. It was a stationary lander, not a rover. Preliminary indications are that the structure did actually crush, and that it is in fact stationary.
Opportunity has moved a total of about 27 miles in its entire 10 plus year mission.
That's because the goal has been to look at everything it can, not move to a particular place far away.
But chances are the crash site is considerably further than 50 miles and the rovers wheels/motors/solar panels/batteries would never survive the trip.
Yeah, the odds of failure have really beat up on Opportunity, haven't they? How about a 6-month trip that is more leisurely and would still provide time to look around a little on the way?
They aren't even that far from each other, relatively. They tried to put Opportunity onto a position to image the descent and landing, although apparently it didn't actually see it. Still, the place where it crashed is not that far from Opportunity, although the little guy can't move very quickly. It might take years before it shows up to get some pictures. I think they should re-designate their mission targets.
Paying money every month for a couple of sine waves coming out of a cheap tinny Chinese speaker.
Real music aficionados such as myself attach a wire directly to the inner ear and use a homemade needle on the other end to manually read the grooves in the vinyl record which I'm turning myself. I would tell you who I'm listening to but you probably haven't heard of them.
They CANNOT officially charge him until he has been interviewed
And the Swedish prosecutors are legally prevented from traveling to the UK to interview him, or interviewing him remotely? That seems like an awful large hole in their system of due process.
Thanks for demonstrating your complete ignorance of Swedish due process.
Shit, they must have covered Swedish due process in school that one day I was sick.
If they have enough evidence to charge him with a crime, they can charge him. He doesn't need to be there. They didn't need to bring in Al Capone for an interview before they charged him. Leaders of drug cartels do not need to appear in the US to be charged here. And "international criminals" like Assange also do not need to be here if they are charged with something like distributing classified information. If there is evidence, then charge him with a crime. If there's not, leave him alone.
And until what you say comes to pass, there are still plenty of people getting whatever they want for free, just like it was with music. Eventually they'll figure out how people want to watch shows and allow them to pay for that, but until that happens I'm still going to watch things how I want to regardless of whether or not there's a way for me to pay the producers.

How does that work? Do you return the bandwidth when you're done using it?
Wow, an entire thread featuring an argument between 0100010001010011 (652467) and 110010001000 (697113). I guess it was bound to happen eventually.

That was 2 different things. His daughter is using Facetime while one or more other people are streaming 4K video to one or more TVs.

There's $1.75 million on the line, so instead of posting anonymously to Slashdot you should get to work.
