Come on, I hear this all the time. That would never happen to me... It always happens to someone else. I got news for you. Not all criminals are stupid. Most aren't. And if 1 guy can get a complete bank to fall (and this happened multiple times in history by now) with all their know-how and security and yet you still aren't vulnerable? Think again mate. You will be ripped off when someone wants to put the effort in. And you won't know what hit you until it's too late.

Yes problem is, that in between fixing my guitar, my laptop, my tv and my fridge, I need to find some time to become skilled in fixing the hairdryer. My family wants some time from me. And the government wants me to put into some time to pay them for whatever service it is they tell me I just bought. In the end... I think I'd just let a qualified mechanic look at the car I transport my kids in ;)

It's funny you say that about the not-so-tech juries. Here we look upon citizens juries with precisely the same in mind. How can one person that is not trained for it, every be in place that he can convict someone. It's no problem that they aren't tech-savvy. It IS however a problem that they don't know shit about crime and/or law. That should be you concern.

Ah sorry mate, I come from the time that you had 360kb floppies. You would call those 360kb or single sided floppies. Later we got doubles sided, 1.44Mb You would call that doublesided or 1.4 megabyte. I know this isnt your fault but mine, but I never got adopted to the way they sell internet. I know I have 5Mb per second because I can tell in my torrents. They come in at 5000kb/s. My bad, but I hope it's clear now. It's 5 megabyte per second. And if that makes 40mbps that's fine with me :)

Depends... if that same company tried to sell me a home with a unsafe oven I would think twice about the value of that free thing. In my world, where we use linux or bsd, we have no viruses because the system has been build like a house with a very very safe oven that can not overheat and burst into flames. What MS is doing here is first sell you a lacking product (lacking in safety) and than years later (it has been years) supply you with a free patch that stops SOME but not all of the spontaneous fires in your oven. And somehow, in not completely giving you what you paid for - they make you say thanks and applaud them. It's just to fucking weird to even be real :S No, I really don't think MS is doing this for charity ;)

I have a steady 5 Megabytes per second here. Not sure if that's 12 minutes or 15. But about 15 minutes is the time it takes to get a well seeded (max of my line) 4.7 gig dvd. Sometimes 27, if there is less seeding. But it's really that fast. It's come to a point I tell to my other tech-friends that I am no longer in need of faster internet. And they tend to agree.
