Evergreen sell a PCI Celeron upgrade card for old PCI systems that has a BX chipset, a couple of So-dmm slots, & a socket 370, complete with a Celeron, check www.evertech/accelerapci/. Also I remember back in 97 you use to be able to get Cyrix 686L 200 PCI cards for Macs, so that they'd be windows compatible with the penalty of soft windsows emulation.
Are these things like those Evergreen Celeron PCI (system on a card) upgradecards (www.evertech.com/accelerapci/) that are designed to upgrade old PCI sytems; Or like those Cyrix 686 200L PCI cards for Macs (to give 'em Windows compatibility through hardware), that use to be for sale in Mac shops?
To every I German fighting the western allies, another 10 were fighting the Russians. Really D-day, Italy & Africa were mere side shows & made no effect on the course of the war what so ever.
3 months early. So if there were no nuclear wapons the war would have ended months ealier. Dropping nukes on Japan saved no allied lives, what so ever. It actually cost allied lives as the allies rejected the Nips peace offerring & extended the war by 3 months, plus there were allied prisoners of wars in both those cities, that died because of those nukes. Let me explain Arround August '95, the British Home Office & Foreign office, released many 1000s' of documents (classified under the official secrets act),pertaining to the war, as their 50 year status had expired - There maybe many other secrets about the war, we have yet to find out about, as apparently there are many other documents that were classified for 100 years. Basically it was all Poland's fault that Hiroshima & Nagasaki were nuked...... What happened was that when the Germans invaded Poland, the Russians moved in & took the Eastern half - Mad Adulf & Uncle Joe had got Ribbentrop & Molotov to work this senario out, when they were together signing their little non-agression pact, earlier on. After the invasion the Poles formed a 'Goverment in Exile' in France, which later moved to the UK. The Western allies recognised them as the official Polish goverment. Meanwhile the Russians had made their own Polish Communist cronies form their own Polish Goverment in Eastern Poland, which they had intergrated into USSR as another Soviet Republic (well what was left of Eastern Poland after they gave a bit to the Belarus SSR, & another bit to the Ukrainian SSR). Well after Operation Barbarossa (the German invasion of Russia), these Polish communists were forced to run back to Uncle Joe in Moscow, & form their own Polish 'Goverment in Exile' in Russia proper. So now we had 2 Polish Goverments in exile. Well any way, during their many pow-wows together, FDR, Winnie & Uncle Joe finally agreed that the post war Polish Goverment should include representitives from both Polish pretenders, in London & Lublin. By arround the Summer of '44 Hitler's panzers were in full retreat & there were already Soviet T34s' rolling into the suburbs of Warsaw, across the Vistula from Warsaw proper. The Russian radio stations were beaming across the frontier telling the Poles to revolt, to speed up their liberation from the Nasis'. The Polish exiles in London saw their chance & ordered the Home Army in Poland to revolt against the German occupiers. A funny thing then happen, the Red Army all of a sudden ground to a halt at the Vistula, thereby giving the Germans a free hand to crush the Warsaw Uprising. Once the Uprising was over the Russian T34 tanks then moved forward again & 'liberated' Warsaw. Stalin then 'forgot' about his agreament, & had his Lublin exiles form a goverment on their own. When some of the London exiles flew over to join them, having no Home Army to protect them, they promptly dissappeared. Winnie & FDR (& later Truman) were enraged. Meanwhile in the Pacific, things weren't going well for the Japanese, & by the early Summer of '45 & the German defeat, they knew there time was up. So the Imperial Goverment started to send out surrender feelers to the allies, via the Russian & Swiss Embassies (Russian did not enter the war with Japan till August) - this was 3 months before Hiroshima. They included only one condition amongst their surrender terms - that they be aloud to keep their Emporer. These were rejected, even though (as the secret war ministry documents show) the US had already decided that the Japanese could keep their Emporer after the war; as it would then be less likely for a communist Goverment to form there. Seeing as Stalin had agreed years earlier, that he would enter the war against Japan, 3 months after Germany surrended, you can see why Truman & Churchill were so concern. Especially when you considered what happened with Poland. Well any way beacause of what Stalin did to Poland, Churchill & Truman decided to show that they had 'Mojo' to equal Stalins red Army 'Mojo' (you got to remember that the Western Armies were nothing compared to the Red Army then - to every German Soldier fighting the Western allies, there were another 10 fighting on the Eastern front - there was no way even D-Day would have been successful if the Russians werent tying down so many German men. Plus the allies had nothing to compare with the 1000s' of Russian T34, KV & JS tanks, other than almost obsolete Shermans, & much smaller numbers too.). So Churchill obliterated Dresden with his 'Mojo' - RAF's Bomber Command, & Truman was advised by Stimson or paterson (I forget which) to reject Japans surrender feelers, so he could demenstrate his 'Mojo', through nuking Hiroshima & Nagasaki. The War Ministry papers also show that the nukes, were not even the main reason for their unconditional surrender to the US, but just a face saving way out, as the Russians had by now entered the war against Japan & Marshal Zukhov's Red armies had just Blitzkreiged the whole of Manchuria & Korea, & also crossed over & taken Sakhalin & the Kuril Islands, so were now within sight of Japan itself. After taking 2 million Japanese prisoners, including over 150 generals & 'liberating' more land from Japanese occupation than the Americans, Australians & British had in the previous 4 years of war. There was one thing the Japanese top brass feared more than unconditional surrender to the Americans, & that was an invasion by the Red Army. Another swaying facter in the droping of the bomb was that it cost 2 billion to develop, & Truman was worried what the publics reaction would be if the secret of the bomb (& its cost) ever came out, without him actually using it. Afterall news of the Baatam death march, etc, had just filtered through to the American public in the preceeding months. War is war, & the reality is there's no rules in war but the rules of the victors. Afterall Dresden, Hiroshima & Nagasaki was just as bad as any of the 'war crimes' of the Nasis or the Nips - mind you, revenge is sweet. Thats why I dont beleive Japan should have to pay compensation for war crimes (such as what the British veterans & the Korean woman want), otherwise the US should have to pay compensation for the nukes, & the Brits for Dresden etc. Also it was up to the goverments of the day to set reparation claims when Japans signed formal peace traeties with the 48 allied nations in '52. In other words the Korean Women & the British veterans etc should really be now sueing their own goverments now & not Japan.
for being involved in a CIA sponsored coupsponsored coup. Just as those responsable for the CIA coup in Guatamala (just because the United Fruit Company didnt like the compensation for the small part of its massive holdings that was being given over for land reform, & that Dulles, the US Secretary of State was a major share holder of the UFC, so he wanted to keep the share price up) are directly responsable for 50000 deaths. Those involved in the CIA coup that brought the Shah to power are also responsable for many thousands of death. So if any of them are in danger, because they were named, well its just karma.
Such as the cod fisheries off Newfoundland, where because of high tech factory ships & their accoumpanied fleet of sonar guided trawlers, the cod fisheries were wiped absolutelly clean - now the Canadian govt pays its fisherman for doing nothing. I personally think the Canadian govt should shoot them for treason, as destroying ones own enviroment like that is no different than what RAF Bomber Command did to Dresden. Now with the rest of the worlds fisheries being fished out at 7 times replenishment levels, do you think other fishermen have learned the lesson of the 'Grand Banks'
Fact is, the whole point of business is to make a prfit for its shareholders, & nothing else. So there's nothing wrong with a company dumping a client, if for some totally unblameless reason, doing business with the company is effecting the bottom line. Why do you think that govt sometimes bring out legislation to inhibit the worse aspects of corporatism? Because to put it simply, where ethics negatively effects the bottom line (sometimes ethics can have a positive effect on the bottom line to, in which case businesses are quite happy to have ethics or try to give the impression they have ethics anyway), occasionally someone may be deemed necessary for a bit of legislation.
Need I say more. Also the Austin ones are said to be compatible with the earlier generation Athlon boards, via slockets. The Austin ones will also be avaliable in slot form (as well as socket form) for OEMs.
Just compare the performance of a early FIC SD11 with its immature BIOS & the later SD11 board revisions with later BIOS revisions - there's a huge difference, relativelly speaking. Also compare a VIA 133A board with old 4in1 chipset drivers to the same board with the latest 4in1 drivers - again a huge difference, relative to what changes have been made.
From what I've been reading AMD does not recommend using their new Thunderbird Socket CPUs with KX133 slotA boards, such as the Abit KA7 (even though Abit say it's T'bird compatible). Well I've been delving a little deeper & it seems that while the T'birds from the Dresden fab30 (copper interconnects) are at best iffy& at worse won't work with a KX133 board (via a slocket), many seem to think the Austin fab25 (aluminium interconnects) T'birds do seem to be compatible with KX133 boards, such as the Abit KA7 (via a slocket). Well I just read at www.sharkyextreme.com that the Austin T'birds will have a blue core, while the Dresden T'birds will have a green core. Plus as they are 'flipchip' type socket CPUs, like their previous K6 designs, however not with the aluminium 'primary heatsink' cover, you'll be able to see the colour of the core, unless the fansink is pre-installed & epoxied on. So it seems that if slockets become avaliable for the T'bird, & you already have a KX133 board, such as the Abit KA7, you might be able to upgrade to the T'bird if you buy a green one (& cross your fingers). As their are a few P6 boards that have both a slot & a socket, hopefully a few of the board makers will come out with VIA KT133 boards that also have both a slot & a socket on them too. Apparently, also, AMD will be supplying slotA T'birds to OEMS for use with such Irongate (AMD 750 chipset) boards as the MSI K7Pro, which are said to be quite compatible with the T'bird. Hopefully some of these OEM SlotA T'birds will filter down to the reseller market.

for genuine long term cost cutting in telecommunications. For example look at GSM services. At the moment there are 3 firms (Telstra, Optus & Vodafone) with Australia-wide GSM networks. Which means there is a triplication of all the fixed costs & in telecommications a greater proportion of costs are fixed than in just about any other industry. For example, whether a firm has 20% of the market or 90% of the market, they still have to have virtually the same network costs. Actually most pudits recognise that if Telstra was still allowed to have it's Analog monopoly & the competing GSM networks were not introduced. Then the costs regarding the Analog network would now be virtually nothing, as they had re-couped there costs years ago. However because the Fed govt signed an agreement with Vodafone & Optus to disband the perfectly good Telstra Analog network (afterall at least 95% of people with mobile phones never use those fancy services that digital networks provide as an extra). Which means that Telstra has been forced to spend billions building its new GSM network. Plus both vodafone & Optus also had to spend billions too, on there networks. Even if the govt had made Telstra setup a GSM network, if they hadnt brought in Vodafone & Optus too compete, Telstra would have re-couped its cost much earlier & would now be free to charge as low a price as the govt desired.

I have an unlimited account with www.tpg.com.au for just A$20 a month (about US$13). Which sounds as cheap as anywhere else in the world. Pity about the 3 hour session limit. They also give you a free midnight to dawn account for long downloads.
I don't mean Ford Consuls:) One of the reasons PC800 RAMbus is so expensive is that yeild are as low as 10%. Now of course many will say they would not be making them with yeilds that low. Which is right. The wafer yeilds are probably much better. However because of the way PC800 modules work - with each chip on the module only coming into play as the need arises, so the need for a heat spreader to spread the heat from the fully utilised chip/s to the ones that havent come into play yet & because that heat spreader is also needed to sheild the module - it means that the individual chips on the module can't be tested till after the module is fully assempled so if one chip is a dud, the whole module is a dud. SDRAM makers don't have this problem. Also the makers of consels don't have this problem with RDRAM either, as in a consoles the rambus chips are setup in such a way, that they can be tested individully. Also it wouldn't surprise me in Nitendo & Sony were offered cut price share deals too. I maybe wrong about the yeilds & manufacturing process, but that the way it was explained to me.
Yes that's right. If you log onto the www.insanehardware.com website in Australia, you'll see that Intel have made avaliable to them Intel i820 motherboards for sale to the public (for A$350, about US$200, including Australia-wide deleivery), & each board comes with a free 128MB RAMbus module. It seem strange that they'd do this considering that recently I noticed 128MB rambus modules selling for A$1000, just by themselves. Now I know why such a 'good' deal is on offer. Now I know why.
I remember seeing a PCI/AGP combo card, made by Jazz, it was a i740 card called the 'Bonnie & Clyde'. Well anyway it had a PCI edge connector on one side & a AGP edge connector on the other side, at each end there was a VGA 'D' connector. So all one would have to do, if they upgraded to a board with an AGP slot, would be to take backing plate of one end of the card & screw it on the other end & turn the card arround. I don't know why all Video card makers don't do this. As it would mean they would only need to have one line going, which would aid economies of scale. Plus the simplified, storage/shipping/sales of having just the one card for both PCI & AGP slots, would definitly outway any of the cost factors involved. Also a ISA/PCI combo NIC, would be a good idea to - you could have an ISA edge connector on one side & a PCI edge connector on the otherside, then when you upgraded to a all PCI board, all you would have to do is turn the card upside down, screw the backing plate on the other way arroung & finally switch over a jumper (if that was necessary).
It's no different than any other forms of media in Australia. When anyone gets arrested here, until they either pleed guilty or get found guilty, all information concerning them is concidered sub-judicy & cannot be mentioned by the media. If a newpaper had mention any past arrests a mis-trial would also have been called & th newspaper would have been found in contempt of court. We've actually had radio personalities in Australia, that have gone to jail for contempt, for breaking the laws concerning sub-judicy. Maybe all of you should study up & get your facts right before posting comments on subjects you know nothing about.
If MS was split up, all that would happen is they would each have a monopoly in their prospective field; or if they competed with each other, all the other Software devolopers would be cought in the crossfire, & end up collateral damage. What they should do (if the DOJ were 'fair dinkum') is make MS open up the Win32 APIs & the DierectX3D APIs. Plus MS should bw made to finance a multi-million dollar (or maybe billion dollar) trust fund, which will use the Win32 APIs & DirctX3D APIs to make a fully developed (post Beta) Wine portability layer for MacOSX, BeOS, & Linux, so that they could be fully compatible with Windows programs without emulation. Like the way OS/2 worked with DOS & W16 programs. Also that trust fund could be used to make Win32 compatible drivers for all the windows only hardware, so that all the avaliable peripherals out there would work just as easily with MacOSX, Linux & BEOS. With the ported Win32 & DirectX3D API's then Windows games would work in MacOS, BeOS & Linux systems, complete with hardware axceleration. Also MS should be made to port all their aplications to MacOS, BeOS & Linus in fully developed post beta form. Plus all their new apllications & aplication revisions should be avaliable in independently tested (by the trust) BeOS, Linux & MacOS versions before they are allowed to release the windows port. This may encourage MS to make future versions of Windows POXIS complient, to aid portability, which would make it easier for other developers to cross port their apps. Also the MS apps should be boxed up with all their ports together on the same CD (like the way Claris Works have both the Mac & Windows version on the same CD, & BeOS has both the X86 & PPC ports on the same CD), so stocking & sales don't become a hassle. Also MS hardware should be made to be compatible to Linux, BeOS, & Mac (in independent tests) before they are allowed to be sold, complete with all the drivers for the various OSes on the install CD.
Before The US entered the war (well the British Commonwealth). You just have to see the photos that came out in 1940, of about 300 Australian soldiers escorting over 150000 Italians into captivity
ditto
Acorn Risc Processors are designed for embedded aplications. This ATX board is just designed for making it easier to test peripherals, etc.

I don't mean Ford Consuls :) One of the reasons PC800 RAMbus is so expensive is that yeild are as low as 10%.
