Trumen bomb Hiroshima & Nagasaki to demenstrate to Stalin his 'mojo' While Churchill got Bomber Command to flatten & turn Dresden to ashes to demenstrate his 'mojo' to Stalin. Well virtually none Look at Seira-Leone, where there are thousands of UN peacekeepers, including Brits, Jordanians, Ukraininans, & many from other African states. Look at East-Timor where there are thousands of Aussies, Brits, New Zealanders, Jordanians, Thais, Portugese, Brazilians, but the only American troops there, are about 30 - actually a Marine feild kitchen to be exact. Look at Lebanon, Where there are Fijian, Italian, & others, but no Americans. Even in Kosovo, the Brits sent in a lot more troops, & quicker too than the Americans. Really Because of their experiance in Vietnam & Somalia, all the US does when it gets involved in UN peacekeeping now, is either bomb the shit out of the place &/or support. But when it comes to ground troops its no no no, as mummy might sue because little Johnny joined up as a career & not to be kill, Which one mum did when here son was sent to Kosovo. I really dont understand why all these yanks complain about the UN, because really its just an arm of the US State Dept.
The Justice dept must force M$ as part of their punishment to open up the Win32 APIs & DirectX3D APIs to a multi-million dollar trust funded by M$ so the Win32 APIs can be used to make (independently tested) post Beta ports of Wine for MacOSX, BeOS5, Linux & the other nixes. Also the DirectX3D APIs must also be ported to the above mentioned platforms (also funded by the M$ punitive punishment trust). M$ must also be force to make (independently tested) ports of all their future apps to MacOSX, BeOS & Linux, before they can make the Win32 ports of the same app avaliable. Also they should be boxed together on the same CDs (like the way ClarisWorks have both the Mac Port & the Win32 port on the same CD & Beos comes boxed with both the PPC port & the X86 port in it) - to minimise stockage/shipping/ordering/sales confusion. This may encourage M$ to make future versions of Windows POSIX complient, to aid portability - which should make it easier for other developers to cross port their apps too. Really splitting up M$ will acheive buggerall, & if the 'baby bills' were to actually compete against each other, all that would happen, would be that all the other alternatives would be coaught in the crossfire & end up collateral damage.
So it didnt need a emulator to be compatable with DOS apps & Win3.X apps. Plus with Odin OS/2 has reversed enginerred W32 API built in, so it can do win9X/NT apps without emulation either. Actually when it comes to DOS & W3.X apps, an OS/2 system will beat any equilivent windows system anyday.
Actually dandalions propergate both sexually &/or asexually. Just like banana plants & potatoe plants can proporgate via, new root/tuba growths, or through insects helping to fertilise the flowers, & seeds forming. I think dandilions (well some flowers anyway) have the ability for the flowers to fertilise themselves &/or get fertilised from the flowers from other dandelions, via bees, for instance.
Bacause the FBI has said they'l extradite hime to the US, if the Philipines don't prosecute him to their satisfaction. Now then how can someone who's never been to the US, break US laws. As far as I can understand he would have been under Philipino law while in the Philipines. This is like the US puting warrents out for the arrest of Columbian Cartel leaders, even though none have ever been in the US, so have never been under US juristiction. Its about time the world says we've had enough, & stop the US trying to force their laws on the rest of the world. I don't see the Saudi's trying to arrest Americans who mail Scotch to their relatives working in Saudi Arabia. Which is no different from what the Columbians are doing.
Look at Amazon.com, worth billions, but most pundits doubt it'd ever make a profit. Really 'investing' in tech stocks is not much different to investing in pyramid schemes. In that the value is based on demand & nothing else, & the secret is to jump ship before everyone else.
Actually no, these Philips Digital VHS VCRs, do not use DV cassettes (I used to own a Sony VXS 1000 Pro DV cam, so I know what a DV cassette is), they use VHS tapes, with error correction memmory & different detection holes on the cassette(so the machine can detect the difference between an a normal VHS tape & its propietry Digital VHS tapes - I wonder if you were to tape up the hole on a normal VHS cassette, then punch in 2 holes, where they are on the digital VHS tapes, would a normal VHS work as a digital tape, just without the error correction?)
There's absolutelly no reason why they couldnt design it so it would record digitally onto normal VHS tapes, but no they design it so you have to use special 'digital' tape, just so they can make extra money. Just like Phillips did, with their 'Digital Compact Cassette' standard, if they had designed that to record digitally onto mormal cassettes it may have taken off, but no, they got greedy - so it never took off, just like this one won't.
Everyone wants LCDs, but only at a price they can afford. Therefore if traders rise there prices higher than than what people are willing to pay, demand drops off very steaply. So basically the the supply & demand price curves are not finding their equilibrium. So they have to cover costs through the service agreement. If this was a set-top device with 'video out' & 'VGA out', I'm sure they'd now be selling them outright (at an higher price), as well as selling them with a service contract (at an initial lower price, but with monthly charges as well). As they would be able to supply as many as demand warrents.
hands down, especially as far discless web brousing by grandmas are concerned. Linux/netscape just doesnt compare in that regard.

Yeh I've seen ethernet cards that had a ISA edge connector on one side & a PCI conector on the other side. So all you would have to do if you upgraded to a board without ISA connectors, would be to turn it upside down & unscrew tthe backing plate & rescrew it the otherway arround. I've also seen Videocards - the Jazz 'Bonnie & Clyde', it was a i740 card - that had a AGP edge connector on one side, & a PCI connector on the other side. So all you would have to, if you were upgrading from a PCI only board to a board with an AGP slot, would be to turn the board arround (as there was a VGA plug on each end) & unscrew the end plate & screw it back on at the other end. I don't know why all the manufacturers don't do this. Because with economies of scale & all, surelly this would be cheaper that having 2 seperate lines going for each product. Plus ordering/shipping/storage/stockage would be easier.

Fact Apple does not have a patent on Translusent plastic, as they existed before Apple ever existed - cassettes in the 70s, for instance.
