  1. The idea of a vacuum transport tube has been around before Elon Musk. I remember attending colloquium in college where some inventors were trying to get interest in building evacuated tube transport. http://www.et3.com/

This sounds like fun. Where can I join the fun on team no ad's?

  3. I remember using windows 8 and having issues with unsigned hardware drivers. There were some work arounds but they weren't pretty. In my case the drivers were for an internally produced dev board with restricted distribution.

Now we're going to have trucks with operating ovens at 850 F while driving? I thought 400-450 F was the ideal range to cook a pizza?

  5. Shoes on the other foot now. on As Robots Eat Our Jobs, Fed Should 'Drop the Money From Helicopters,' Says Bill Gross (janus.com) · · Score: 1

I've been trying to think why suddenly there's all these stories about the government giving out handouts. I didn't clue into why till just now. It's the stupid bankers thinking that their jobs are going to be outsourced. So of course they want another bail out. You didn't hear all this whining about give me money when manufacturing jobs were either being automated or going over seas. Then most of the ivory tower types were claiming that people needed to go back to school and learn a new career.

  6. As long as it's not treated like a vacation. I would recommend a menial labor job. I know it helped me finish college. I knew what I'd be stuck doing if I didn't stay focused and graduate.

  8. How old is your car? on NHTSA Toughens Crash Test Rating Standards · · Score: 1

Average age of a car is something like 11 years old. If you assume that this trend continues then if it takes them 1-2 years to finish this standard and 2-3 years to design a car to pass with full marks then this won't be in the average car for something like 14-16 years. 9. When I was shopping for a phone I remember wishing they had specifications like they have for amateur radio gear. Stuff like antenna pattern, antenna gain, maybe some effective radiated power, then some specs on the receiver for sensitivity, selectivity, and spurious and image rejection ratio. But even this article was too chicken to release any data.

  10. kid driven decisions on HBO, Netflix, and Amazon Targeting Kids · · Score: 1

If you're using a tablet as a babysitter it's useful to have access to kid programming. This seems like a no brainer for any of the streaming services.
