I'm probably speaking for a lot of people, but what are your skills? Most slashdotters dont know what comprises a production major. Are your skills in directing? Stage design? Filming?...??
Actually, I didn't include much detail because I wanted to see if I could get a broad range of responses.
FYI, though, my specialization includes non-linear video and audio editing/production, videography, graphics, and Internet media distribution.
Also, what do you mean by "geek job?" First thing I can think of involves programming or sys admin positions. Those arent exactly taught in what most consider tv production programs.
Pretty much anything involving mucking around with computers, I suppose. In addition to the media degree, I have some experience in *nix administration, end-user support, and instructional technology.
Why does your university (you didn't say which one...) consider TV to be a science?
A Bachelor of Science degree doesn't imply that the associated field of study is a science. One can get a bachelor of science in things like performing arts, religion, and history.
A Bachelor of Science degree usually implies that the holder had a bit of extra coursework in math and science. A Bachelor of Arts degree usually carries additional study in a foreign language.
Oompa Loompa doopity doo, we're going to change your browser for you...
...Oompa Loompa doompeda dee, If you are wise you'll listen to me.
What do you get from ad-blasting me? One less pair of eyes, and I'll keep my money. Why don't you stop this bad marketing ploy, Or do you really think that this won't annoy? You'll get no,
You'll get no
You'll get no,
You'll get no, You'll get no revenue!!!
While we all know that webchat is the most secure medium known to information security (and that's why the NSA has all of their teleconferences via Yahoo! Chat) here are several other options:
- Have a set-top box dedicated to Internet chatting. After all, it's not IRC, so it's got to be better, right?
- You've heard of IP-over-avian...add a messaging protocol and you can have chat-over-avian! Isn't that great?
- We all switch back to directly dialing up each other's computers via modem. If you use your Little Orphan Annie decoder ring, imagine the advantages over IRC!
Boy, oh, boy...you must be relatively new to the Internet.
Here's just one example of organized credit card fraud on the Internet. Some software piracy groups have *entire segments* dedicated to credit card fraud. They even have a name for these folks: "carders." They'll "card" a laptop, CD writer, etc. for you, and find a way to get it safely received. Many of these folks have huge lists of names, addresses, and credit card numbers that often come from compromised websites.
It's happened to me before. Luckily, I caught it, and I learned from my mistake. I've found a way to help defend against this kind of attack.
Everyone should think about using one-time-use credit card numbers when making purchases from anyone over the phone or Internet. Several credit card issuers offer this feature. Here's an example of one of them.
Opt-in lists, by definition, have to be created in a one-on-one business relationship. Otherwise, one can just take any ol' list of random people, sell it to someone else, and say "uh, yeah, sure...of course they want you to contact them!"
Wait, that sounds familiar after all..it's how most spammers today work!
If you told us why you'd like to digitize a VGA video signal, perhaps myself or someone else here might be able to suggest an easier alternative to doing that.
The FCC 'lends' the networks the extra bandwidth so they can broadcast both standard and HDTV at the same time. Stating that all networks have to be broadcasting by 20?? and that normal signals will stop as of 20??. After that they are meant to give back the old bandwidth.
Isn't 20?? the same year that the Mega Man video games take place?
So, let me get this straight: Microsoft leveraged their power for "good", while the others all fell down and capitulated to the Chinese government to get the easy money... what is that telling us...
Anyone remember the ol' "spot the fed" games at hacking/security conferences? Maybe we should start a "spot the Microsoft messageboard plant" game here on Slashdot.
11. Why haven't scientists been able to pinpoint where the human subconscious is located in the brain? They have never found where all the long-term information is stored, and they've already mapped out every part of the brain. The person's brain doesn't grow when they become smarter; size is not part of it. (the reason is that it's not in the brain, it's in the spirit, which is a 4-dimensional object. How much information can be stored in a 4-dimensional object? infinite amounts.)
Not tough. Its easy when it isn't defined. you can be a nano-technologist too!
Erm...okay, then.
Attention, people of Earth! I am now a nanotechnologist!
Umm, welp...I'll be off now studying...err...tiny machines. Have a good evening.
I work on nano technology, and at a secret government lab no less.
what is nanotech? actually there is no such thing. its a marketing buzzword I put in my proposals to get them funded.
Wow, it must be tough working in a field that doesn't really exist.

Wow, the first helpful, non-troll, non-insult post on the story.
Thank you.

I should clarify that I mean that it was *my* card that was stolen; I did not receive "carded" merchandise.
Because of our American climate of lawsuits and accusations, I felt the need to post this addendum.
What are the other options?

Sorry, but the Pro Mouse *does* make a clicking noise. I use them all the time here at work.
You misspelled "porn."
Hmm, yes, emulation.net IS a great resource, but there are no Apple ][ emulators for OS X. This was sort of my point here...
OS X's Classic layer will run basically any pre-OS X application.
There is always a remarkable trickle-down effect within private enterprise that occurs when massive, targeted government spending pours forth.
Wow!!! I had no idea that Ronald Reagan reads and posts to Slashdot!
Using extra layers of emulation is silly.
Go here.

Of course you meant to say, "... perhaps me or someone else here...." "Myself" should only be used when a reflexive action is being taken.
Some people are just fucking morons, though. I suppose your error is justifiable.
Yeah. I guess yours is, as well,
...why did you post it?
Why would you like to do this?
If you told us why you'd like to digitize a VGA video signal, perhaps myself or someone else here might be able to suggest an easier alternative to doing that.
Do you perhaps mean an *addition* to the source code?

I WILL HELP YUO WITH TEH LUNIX!!!!1 E-MALE ME AT JEFFK@SOMETHINGAWFUL.COM!!!1!2!

I spotted the Microsoft Slashdot comments plant!
End story! Congraturation, a winner is you!

George Hammond? Is that you?
