Wow. I thought I was the only one. I recently moved to Montana from Oregon, and one thing I can say is that I no longer have to deal with the trauma of being the only kid on my block without DSL.
It's true, though. Montana is in a technology backwash. And I don't think that the bandwidth here is going to get much bigger, since Montana is about dead last on USQwest's lists of priorities
(if they could ever find their list of priorities, that is, at last check it was 2 feet up their ass with their heads). And since Conrad Burns is getting alot of donations from Qwest , as well as Southern Bell, etc., I don't think there is that much chance of things improving.
But if you are up in the Fish, how much does broadband matter? In a town where the biggest building is a brewery, you should be able to find other things to do to entertain yourself.
hmmm...what would a ven diagram look like? There were some people with implants that had codes. but then, the only people without implants were from Zion...
And yes, that is my cats name. How did you guess:)
Choking on vomit is not a good thing, but vomiting while drunk is a very good thing...it helps remove alcohol from your body before it can enter your bllod stream.
So smoking marijuana while binge drinking is not a good idea...
Not only do they claim to have it, but moreover they say that they can trace any file on the Internet, any attachment and any posting in a newsgroup to it's origin."
To quote one of the great Slashdotter, Grey Fox: "someone had to put all that chaos there". How the heck can these people track any file and any post on the entire internet when it takes me (and I don't think I am alone on this) 3 or 4 days to remember where I put important documents on my computer?
Actually, maybe the opearative word is any , any doesn't mean all. Sure if someone wants to zero in one particular file or ip address or usenet poster, they can. But focusing on all of them? Impossible.
After all, having a map of the ocean doesn't mean you can swim across the Hudsons Bay.
While M$ could have quoted some made up statistics, or given a bullshit spiel of marketese, or talked about how M$ was "forging the future with partnerships for innovation", they actually thought up something (somewhat) clever, or at least tried to.
And if this was a Slashdot post, it could easily be modified up as +1 (funny) as well as -1 (flamebait)
One of the greatest reasons I see people supporting Al Gore is his environmentalism. I am think Al Gores' environmentalism is pretty trivial.
Yes, I think it will be a great loss if George Bush has his way with the Alaska National Wildlife Refuge. (That phrasing makes it seem like George W Bush is about to seduce their daughters! And that is almost the emotional level this seems to be at.) And I do think Gore will be able to stop this from happening.
But a few national parks and national forests in this country are a trivial matter. The result of losing these is that a few yuppies may miss out on a chance to commune with nature.
The real environmental issue is the third world, and the corporate control of it that will lead to it's ruin. Al Gore and George W Bush both support turning the entire third world into a resource pool, and a market, for US goods, and support any military dictator who will uphold this.
So with Gore and Bush, we get environmental destruction of the 3rd world, but with Gore we get a few pretty parks saved to look at while the world burns.
But they also want to take several million dollars from the gambling industry, which are one of the nations leading causes of crime, as well as being controlled by criminals on their own right.
It is an extreme example, not a bad example. I don't think that most people would consider this child pornography...But someone could, and someone will.
Reagan wasn't aiding our enemies in direct opposition to congress. He was aiding our marginal allies (which was what was forbidden by congress) by selling arms to our enemies...(at least that is how the allegations go) which might have broken a law other then just plain common sense.
What if the computer controlling an airplanes radar goes out and the plane crashed into an orphanage and kills a saintly nun that is visiting there?
There are always worse case scenarios for things...computers will fail somewhere, and people can die because of it. It's part of life. The only difference here is that it is part of a (somewhat) frivolous pursuit.
The best analogy would be to bull fighting or the rodeo. Does an animals handler blame himself when an animal kills someone? Well, he might, but he knows that feeding an animal doesn't make him responsible for the animal killing a person in a game where death is a risk inherent in the game.
I didn't wonder that there was no rebuttals to either Gore or Bush's comments. After all, they didn't say anything.
Although I think it is funny that they kept on talking about 'artists rights'...my Goddess, can they really believe that shit? Can they believe that anyone else can believe that shit? Artists aren't losing money on Napster, record companies are. That might sound like such an obvious fact, but obviously these presidential candidates feel like they can live in an alternative reality by using different words.
Many of them are political, but they don't strike me as propaganda, or of even having any political slant.
If anything, they are anti-propaganda, since they tend to view the events coldy and unobjectivly instead of trying to manipulate emotions.
Something about the directness and lack of perspective actually made it more affective for me...stripped of all the adrenalin, it seems much sadder, if that makes any sense.
Obviously, someone who has so many inaccurate statements in their post shouldn't have a patent. Look at this sentence and the name of the dog you owned when you were 8 years old who got run over by your
dad by accident one day after he purchased his brand new SUV . Anyone who was 8 years old when SUVs were released would not be shopping on the internet, because of the 13 years of age law went into effect.
You sir, are a fraud. So sad that such a sterling idea had to come out of the mind of such a rascal.

But what about zion? Weren't the people in Zion the only people who weren't wired for computers?

Last time I had a job, I took the train to it everyday in ease and comfort and speed.

Although, really, I forgot almost all of the details of the story...although maybe I should read it again, for the first time since I was 8.

How about this picture? Should it be illegal?
Click on the link...don't worry, it is nothing gross, but it could be cosidered child pornography by some people.

The human driver is going to win, but after he wins he is going to stumble out of his car, sweating, and die of exhaustion.

If I remember the story correctly, the man who did that, did live.
My copier does make popsicles, But since it is a black and white copier, they only come out in 'charcoal' and 'ice' flavors, which is no fun.

I've never talked about art before on /. ...
"Hahaha! Little do they know that I am playing in God mode!"
