> Replacing the pilot by a ground controller cuts the price of each unit by two-third
Why not just replace these big fighter jets with Hundreds of Smaller ones. Perhaps something about 6 feet wide. Make them so small and cheap that no country in their right mind would dare shoot them down with their expensive rockets.
Or perhaps we could fall back to Sharks with Frick'n Laser beams attatched to their heads. < Evil Grin >
What if...
This technology was used for good and not evil?
They claim that they can identify an mp3 just by it's code by analyzing it.
What if this technology was used to find all the crappy mp3s on the net. Just think about it. I could have some program running in the background on my computer that could search through gigs and gigs of my MP3's and find all the little "blips" and crackles from a poorly encoded MP3.
Just start the program at night time when you go to bed, and wake up to a full.log file saying something like:
/home/brad3378/MP3directory/Song_X.mp3 - 2:22 problem found. - verify the quality of this song /home/brad3378/MP3directory/Song_Y.mp3 - 2:49 problem found. - verify the quality of this song /home/brad3378/MP3directory/Song_Z.mp3 - 4:48 problem found. - verify the quality of this song
I think this could be a big timesaver to folks like me that spend too much time verifying the quality of their MP3 collection.
Oh boy....
This is really gonna throw a wrench in the election.
check out the Ballot and count down to the third Canidate (Harry Browne)
... Now count down to the third Hole. It points to Al Gore! It looks as though Al Gore may have stolen votes from Harry Browne! This is so confusing!!!
It seems obvious to me that Harry Browne should win the state of Florida.
Technically, My vote counts more here in Michigan than a Democrat's Vote in Texas or a Republican's vote in New York.
Almost makes me feel guilty for voting for a 3rd party. I shouldn't have to worry about voting for the lesser of 2 evils. We should just vote for the people that we want elected.
Why can't we get rid of this damn Electoral College? It's a farse. Because of the Electoral College, we've got vote trading websites like http://www.nadergore.com
<Sarcasm>
Next time we should host a website that lets my vote cancel out your vote. (i.e. If you don't vote for a Republican, then I won't vote for a democrat)
</Sarcasm>
If more people that start using NS6,
more bugs will be submitted to Mozilla
The More bugs submitted to Mozilla
the easier it makes it for people to fix these bugs.
From this flamewar I get the impression that many people don't want the Mozilla project to succeed.
I've been using Mozilla on my Win2k box and have been having pretty good luck so far. I like the new interface much more than the new IE "rainbow" interface, Although I admit it does initially load slower than IE.
By the way... Any IE-5.5 users ever have any problems on the Micro$oft website? A friend of mine who swears by using M$ claims that his Win2K box alocates a gig of virtual memory, but only after visiting M$'s website with IE-5.5. I know you can't judge a browser by just one website, but I thought it was odd.
All logged-in users are always moderators at all times, and all logged-in users can vote +1 or -1
While we're on the subject, Why does it need to be limited to the -1 to +5 range? How about a -100 to +100 range? Just imagine the bragging rights to get +100 Karma!
For the record, I'm in favor of NOT letting all logged on users being able to moderate. I think it's wise to make newbies wait a while to get a feel for the website first.
I'd be interested in finding out from an experienced Website Admin. just how much extra webserver load (if any) would result from letting all logged in experienced users moderate.
If Gore wanted a bigger lead on Bush, he should have recognized that the Libertarian Party exists. If Browne were to get some publicity, he would surely divide the Conservative vote among the Republicans and the Libertarians.
Since my vote seems to count more than most of your votes, (I'm in a swing state), I regret not being able to vote for Browne. Realistically, a vote for Browne would be virtually the same as not voting at all. Should I vote for the person I believe in, while knowing he's gonna lose?
Nadar is probably the most intelligent canidate, though I disagree with almost all of his policies. I'd love to see him reach his goal of getting enough voters to get his 14 Million Federal Campaign Dollars. It could very well happen. Like "Ficas", Nadar is often considered the "Fuck-You" vote. Should I vote for Nadar to Shake up this Fucked up political system?
Bush is probably the trump card in my deck. I don't like him as much as Browne, but feel obligated to vote for him to keep Gore out of office.Should I vote for Bush to keep Gore out?
Gore is A little difficult to categorize. How much do we really know about The Vice Prez?Apparently he was really good about keeping his mouth shut regarding the issue of Monica's Mouth Open. Yet Ironicly, almost every time I see him on the news, he's just told another Giant whopper of a lie. I never thought I'd say it, but he appears more corrupt than Clinton himself! Clinton certainly did have the midas touch. Just look at all of the scandals that should have stopped him. Will Gore inherit this same midas touch? Should I vote for Gore just because somebody else in his same political party seemed to have a little good luck?
What lousy choices.
I wish that a Ficus Tree or some professional wrestler was running for President.
Maybe we should jointly patent this idea...
Use a couple of these over a large city to monitor traffic conditions. Send the images down to a webserver or to the wireless phones/computers we'll soon all be carrying or better yet to the dashboards of our cars.
Try doing that with a radio tower!
Heck, you could even tie on one of those advertising banners to the back and tow it arround the city for a month. Let advertisers pay for free internet access! Woo Hoo!... This could be sweet!
< Sarcasm >
.... By going to computer shows and have vendors pay me $25 to take possession of their outdated computers.
/Sarcasm >
Surely they can't expect me to actually pay them!

Ever wonder what would have happened if Microsoft designed voting booth software?
Maybe that pencil and paper idea isn't so bad after all!
I've got the $49.95 / month plan with Sprint PCS.
Of course, what they don't tell you is that you should expect to spend another ten bucks on taxes.
Freedom of $peech - My A$$ !!!

I'm in favor of letting Florida Re-vote because some people voted for the wrong person.
<
I'd also be in favor of being able to re-pick the lottery numbers in the Michigan Lottery. I think I picked the wrong numbers.
Would you believe?????
My Fucking TV just took a shit!! It just turned itself off, and won't turn back on!
ARGH!!!!!
Come on Windoze!!!.... Don't fail me now!
Here's a good Florida Link at MSNBC.com
Wow What a close election!
...They are interpreted from the exit polls with the express intent of keeping our dumb asses glued to the tube so we can watch more commercials
;-)
That's when I change the channel
Just listening to the TV, it's obvious that CBS is placing their bets first.
Also, according to what I saw earlier, CBS claims it has had the most accurate estimates of any of the networks.
Okay.....
;-)
Which one of you guys hacked the Florida Polls?
Anybody know of any websites with live election results?
I'd like to keep an eye on the election while I'm at work.

Maybe we need Slashcode for our presidential canidates.
I'd start by giving a "Flamebait" to Gore and a "-1" to Bush
Geez man!
;-)
I know I'm only part time here, but it would have been nice if I would have known I wasn't required to come to work today!
On the bright side though, I get to spend all day on Slashdot!

Of course they were hacked again!
Somebody fixed some M$ bugs and then had to upload the source back to M$
Ha ha ha!!!

I'd have to agree with you on this one.
If the demand was there, companies would start mass producing them out of particle board...
EWWWWWWW!!!!!!
Didn't you hear?
;-)
Microsoft's network was hacked.
They had to do a bunch of stuff to secure the network, so he FDisked his Windoze box and he's now using Pine instead of Outlook.
Amen!

I'm still waiting for the slashdot IPO
;-)
but thanks anyway!
"In doing so, the company appears to be, in effect, trying to patent the IA-64 instruction set itself."
:-)
Looks like AMD will have to just patent some 128 bit instruction sets to stay competitive!
