    Nobody is getting kidnapped, robbed and murdered on the high seas. Using the word "Piracy" just frames the argument to the favor of copyright holders.

    I believe you mean 'freedom infringement', 'property infringement', or 'life infringement'. The words you used frame the arguments to favor freedom holders, property holders, or life holders.

    I don't have a problem with this at all. It's not removing anything I bought my Roku(s) for.

    I can still connect my TV up to any of my computers. I don't need the Roku to do what other devices do. I have a Roku to do what a Roku does,

    They have their goals (some of them may even be good - or not). Who cares? It's their choice. Their award.

    MTV has been getting press for their awards this year. The criteria are not the same as for the Academy Awards, Sundance, The Golden Globes, etc.

    Perhaps we need a 'Movie Awards Award'.

    Also, energy requirements. Ground vehicles are so much better at lower speeds.

    Slower speeds are not a plus for any sort of vehicle. Their original brief is to get us places faster.

    But the oxygen gets released locally, while it is consumed globally, which would likely create local imbalances.

    I think we'll still be able to breathe. But we may find ourselves moving water around the planet in a previously unforeseen way.

    Because the Japanese think longer term than us.

    Weigh your Tesla. It's 1000 pounds heavier than a Honda FCV. The hydrogen does cost more to make from electricity as opposed to putting it into your 1000 lb battery pack, but think about the long term.

    That's an argument against everything electric. Coal, petroleum, etc. Solar, geothermal and hydro are all compatible with hydrogen production. You just need more of it per mile. Then again, it's a hell of a lot lighter than batteries.

    Well then, they're morons because the USA has never been a 'full democracy'. Once everything shook out after the revolution, the USA was a democratic republic.

    Institutions like the Electoral College were meant to be a check against the stupidity of the masses that might elect a Trump. But idiots clamored for more power by virtue of their numbers. So state governments neutered their own congressional delegations by requiring that they vote for the popular choice.

    The result? Trump. And people clamoring for more democracy.

    There are two fatal flaws in your reasoning:
    1. You assume that "the police" and "the criminals" are disjoint sets.

    He does no such thing. He is suggesting that, say, Apple would hold a key and would only unlock a device in response to the concurrence of two separate branches of government. In this case the executive and judicial.

    2. You assume that innocent people have nothing to hide, and nothing to fear from the police.

    He made no such assumption.

  24. Yeah, if he was spilling his guts to Russia, you could hardly blame the guy since they are keeping him alive. If the US had any vestigial brains left they would give Snowden a pardon, even if only to shut him up.

    No, I could and would definitely blame the guy. It wasn't an accident that he would up in that position. It took quite a bit of effort on his part.

    In the end he'll probably be traded back to the U.S. for some trivial concession.
