I always have the same problem with these surveys...they never list geologists either. In fact all the physical sciences tend to get the shaft, and they list a billion different engineering fields. Maybe if it was geological engineering and physics engineering we'd get listed.
When I got my BS (2001) starting salaries for geologists were ~$35-38k...I'd imagine physics falls around there too...maybe a touch higher...and given the state of the economy I'd guess there hasn't been much change since 2001. In the end it depends on what you're doing with your degree...since there isn't really a set occupation for geologists or physicists.
Personally I went for grad school, since that takes the starting level up (~$45k for a MS and ~$55k for a PhD)...and it doesn't hurt that they're paying me to stay in school....
Since I drive ~500 mile trip a few times a year I would really like to have adaptive cruise...and it sounds like Infinity has gotten it right with the FX35...but can I get it on a car that gets 30+ mpg and costs less than $20k? I'm not really in the market for a $40k SUV....
Microsoft(TM) has also patented(TM) the word(TM) patent(TM) and all its derivations...so now you have to pay them royalties to get a patent(TM), or even to complain about the patent(TM) system.
Slashdot now owes MS $1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 .
That's why I put "rights" in quotes...the ones I'm referring to are not the rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, but rather the "right" to low prices, government handouts, and a decent income without having to really work. Entitlements doesn't really belong in quotes...sorry if that was confusing....
As far as the tree of liberty...how many people would really be willing to refresh it? I think most people in the US would give up their Rights as long as the could keep the "rights".
I've found lots of varieties of 0's at my grocery (I'm particularly fond of the small multicolored "fruit" flavored ones, and the large ones with frosting and sprinkles).
I can't find any 1's though...where do you get yours?
And it isn't just a US issue, it's occurred throughout history...because it is simply a matter of human nature.
When a culture has to struggle to survive, there is motivation to work hard and think hard, and this (combined with some good fortune) makes the culture thrive. Then, when the culture becomes wealthy and comfortable, they get lazy and greedy and sit on their asses, usually until disaster stikes and the culture collapses. This is the reason that the rise and fall of civilizations is cyclical.
The trick to having a long lasting "up" phase is to catch the early signs of the downswing and get your collective asses in gear before it's too late. For the US, whether that happens is still to be seen, but so far what I've observed is people sitting around complaining about "rights" and "entitlement" rather than doing anything.
Behave like a psychopath, start your own murder for hire business and post information about it on your door, make it known you plan to take over the world, and then develop a reputation of divinity...
I was counting trilogies as a whole...since that's how the parent post was worded. And I was assuming that 3 was going to be on par with 1&2, thus making that trilogy bad overall.
I have to say I pretty much agree with you on the movie rankings though...except for Jedi, which I'd give a 3 (then again that was the first one I saw on original release in the theater, so that may be sentimentality).
I agree. The difficulty is that gymnastics is a qualitative rather than quantitative event. The same is true for all the judged events in both the summer and winter games. In the events which are timed or measured there will always be a clear winner, but in events where style counts the human judging factor can never be eliminated. The only thing that I think could be added is allowing video replay for the judges...but that always introduces its own set of problems.
Maybe Lucas will authorize their creation and then die...then they might be creative and interesting...or at least interestingly bad, rather than a bland special effects orgy.
All this arguing is pointless. Yes, Socialism has never (and probably will never) "work", but neither has any form of government. The one constant of government is that those with power will abuse it.
The difference with the US form of "Democracy" is that the power is spread out a bit more....thus making the potential abuses less severe. However, corporatization is consolidating power, and that is leading to more severe abuses (i.e. Enron, Haliburton, etc...). Our two party system, with both parties comfortably in the pocket of corporate execs, is not helping either.
It won't really make much difference overall if we have Pres Kerry or Pres Bush, they are both going to suck up to their rich corporate supporters, just in cosmetically different ways. So, in November vote for a third party...it doesn't really matter which at this point (since none are going to win anything this year), but if enough people do it, it will get people's attention.
To slightly modify an old saying:
Who is more foolish? The fool, or the fools who authorize him to be a fool?
Detroit is nowhere near Colorado.
mmmmmm...Mercedes...my dream car...S55 AMG....
When I can afford one of those I won't care about mpg...my mpg limitation is mainly financial not idealogical.
For now, I'll just have to hope they put adaptive cruise in a non-luxury v-6 midsize sedan by the time my current car self-destructs.

You've hit this one right on the head....

This post is just a copy of an earlier AC post.
You win again gravity!

Worked for me!

If so, hopefully the world will be destroyed before it is completed.

Two data points always fit a perfect trend...

And only 12% of polls are overseen by a statistician...

Yes, but I discredited his opinion due to his admitted stupidity.
(and yes, I'm aware it's all a self defeating argument)
You do realize you just admitted you are stupid...
You may mod this funny, but I've gone with the "or not" option.
My 32MB Rage Fury Pro still runs everything I want with ease. No tuner, but I have a cable box anyway.
But when I finally do upgrade AIW is probably the way I'll go.
It's directed at IE users.
If you were running IE on Linux...what are you smoking?
iPod...nope
BMW...nope
Guess this means nothing to me
Given that Vilt is the German pronounciation of Wild, I would guess 2 is pronouced zwei.
