  1. Re:This is good for linux on VMware Signs Deal with Microsoft · · Score: 1

    Good point.
I'm working in an office now and they won't let anyone touch Linux (or any other OS). Alot of the systems people are using Linux at home already and some have run test here, with Linux, for the network. The tests have had great results but management is still reluctant to that kind of change.
This is a good thing I think. I listen to people swear all day because their computer crashed when pressing the Start button or whatever. Most office people only use spread sheets, word processors, and email. I'd like to show them some better alternatives. You might find it hard to believe but, there is still a large majority of computer users that don't know that windows is just software not the computer. They don't know of any other alternatives and just bare with it.

So they want everyone to act normal huh? Drink Pepsi, listen to Boyz2Men, etc.. Is there an outline for what normal is? Popularity or "what's cool" now a days is gay. Society is braking down. Putting small band aids on it will only make it rot that much more. "You rat me out and your dead" is what kids are going to be saying. Being a rat isn't cool past, present, or in the future. If anything, you're going to see more kids dying because of asumptions of these "rats". Who's fault is that kids can get weapons? Society. I hope everybody dies. Black, white, red I don't care. You all make me sick. This is just the beginning of the downfall of society and it looks good to me. Kill each other, more entertainment for me.

  3. Greedy Sales on The Dark Side Of Napster · · Score: 1

Why aren't they complaining about the sales of used CDs? Almost every store I walk into has a used section. Isn't that kinda the same thing? Someone else is selling their digital media and they aren't seeing a penny of it. What's the difference between getting songs from the Internet (Napster) or from a used CD shoppe? I mean from their perspective. Both ways they don't make any profits yet one is acceptable and the other is not. Hell, most of the CDs in these stores are promotional copies anyway. The record companies are just giving the CDs away. And these people are taking them to their local store and selling them. Then the store makes a profit from them. I think they're barking up the wrong tree. Who's the real criminal here?

  5. Do you feel lucky? on What Does the Audio Home Recording Act Really Allow? · · Score: 1

It's pretty funny. Analysts and typical american business men think they have the future of the Internet all figured out. They see it changing in the future to their advantage. Two words for ya, reverse engineering. No matter what little trick they come up with, someone else will crack it. If you can put it together I can take it apart. By using different words that their children don't understand they figure that they have everyone under their hooves. Just because it involves business doesn't mean that you understand it Mr. Business man. It's pretencious bullshit, they don't fool me. Lastly, Forrester Research? Aren't these the same clowns that predicted that Linux will never survive as significant OS competitor to Microsoft? Analyst aren't magical people. Their guess is as good as yours and mine. Comparing the future to the past is bad planning. People change things, that's what it's all about. Change, not numbers on paper.

Business will grab any buzz word and run it dry. I hate the fact that "they say" everything (appliances, etc..) in the future will be on the Internet. There's enough people crowding the Internet as is, with their singles chat, email, and virtual flowers/panda/card/whatever. I'm tired of sharing the Internet with "joe email" users. I agree, enough with trying to connect everthing to the net. I just can't imagine why you would need your toaster or oven on the net. (Well unless MS makes it, you'll need some bug fixes)You don't need a PIII 500 to use email you dolt!

  8. Shiver me timbers on Pirates Steal Negative $1,400,000,000 from Music Industry · · Score: 1

Pirates. It just sounds like a bad word/action/person doesn't it? Aaarrrrggghhh Billy! If you yank someone, in random, off the street and ask them if they know how to burn a CD, they don't have a clue. They think it has something to do with programming or even worse "hacking". These people have difficulty setting up their email account in MS Outlook. So, I think they're exaggerating just a wee bit. Not as many people are doing this as they wish you to believe. The RIAA wants us to think that the majority of music listeners are smart, devious people. They do this to show that they're working for their money. Doing their job. Seriously, what do the RIAA do? The only time I read/hear anything about them is when they're blowing some steam, complaining about people trying to pull a fast one on them. Whatever. The RIAA is like the typical businessman, using keywords or phrases to make you think they are the good guys.
