I'm fucked. I use tcsh on my *nix boxes and now my employer is moving to Lotus Notes and I have to move all the Exchange shit over to Domino and join it to the French company that bought us.
About two years ago I was contracting to Clearwire to turn up data centers. 40 rack caged colo space with DC power and four half rack sized Cisco routers, rock and roll shit. Once we got all the thousands of cables in the right places and all the configs in the equipment I was able to turn up BGP on two 10Gb circuits. 20Gb of raw fucking Internet all to myself for the next week... and only a Thinkpad with a 1Gb port to connect it to. But I will say that I could torrent the shit out of stuff! Good times!
Also a lot of big box stores. Loews stores are mostly fiber and they just did a huge upgrade from 10Mb/s to 1Gb/s last year.
Side note distance story: Had a trouble ticked for a Home Depot where we found that one of the printers up front was wired all the way back to the data center in the opposite corner, about 550 feet. Out temporary fix was to drop the port down to 10Mb/s until we could get a lift in to run a line to the IDF by the printer.
The last few batches of machines we've got from CDW have Win8 COA stickers but come delivered with Win7 Pro. I just (like last week) got rid of the last XP box around here. Hell if we're going to start to roll out Win8 now. We just finished our refresh (about 150 boxes, half engineering, half manufacturing, more or less) and we're going to keep Win7 for at least the next 5 years.
We have this coming up in a few months after a very large and old French company bought our little aerospace company. If you were part of the IT transition team, please mail me so we can hear your horror stories.
I had to recover a file from one just the other week. First had to find a computer that actually had a printer port. Then I had to hold the ZipDisk just at the right angle for it to read.
And what if we tied all those trailers and had a few really big trucks drive them, maybe on steel rails for less drag. That way two guys could take over a hundred trailers across the country by themselves.
Actually a WA judge is ordering the state legislature to come up with the money for schools because, per the state constitution:
SECTION 1 PREAMBLE. It is the paramount duty of the state to make ample provision for the education of all children residing within its borders, without distinction or preference on account of race, color, caste, or sex.
SECTION 2 PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM. The legislature shall provide for a general and uniform system of public schools. The public school system shall include common schools, and such high schools, normal schools, and technical schools as may hereafter be established. But the entire revenue derived from the common school fund and the state tax for common schools shall be exclusively applied to the support of the common schools.
I passed my GED a few months before my class graduated so I could get the hell out of my small town and into the warm and loving arms of the Air Force. (See, you don't have to be smart to pass the GED.)

But you have to admit that Cat5e with RJ45s on the end sure came close to that "one true cable" for a long time.

And still the ARM refuses to send help to Wunderland to help fight off the Kzin.
Italian Prosecutor. Enough said.
By any chance is this the same Italian prosecutor that went after Amanda Knox?
The Italian legal system is a total joke. Facebook can just sit on this, nothing will happen for years.
Friend, 10BASE2 AKA ThinNET is Ethernet.

They will think you're from Jersey Shores.
Zodiac.
It's not Microsoft.

I have a parrot, you insane bastard! Are you trying to blow up my house?
I live in the Seattle area so HA!
Exactly. If you want to be that anal about the product you should look for a job in aerospace. You'll fit right in.
Us old-timers still sometimes call it a Centronics port.

And the kid gets to brag that he was born in the cloud.
I can now see some wacko religious cult leaders ordering up kids by the hundreds to generate more followers, all with the same DNA.
Where does it say that Wheeler worked for Cable & Wireless? Gotta watch those titles.

That's The Amaz!ng Randi to you.
He'll go to a Federal Prison Camp and spend days doing landscaping. FPCs are safer than most collage dorms.
