    What this mean is harder too understand, but what your parent describe is probably it.

    Only use a separate computer for banking, shouldn't be connected to any network. Preferably all I/O ports should be fit with epoxy, especially the keyboard.. A large faraday cage over the monitor to prevent Van Eck as well.

    But I might be paranoid.

    Yeah I agree we have something that was made to switch between windows, instead we use an inferior interface builtinto the browser. But I'm using tabs anyways, strange isn't it..

    Think about it why should we use tabs, really?

    You can have three paintings on the wall, a phone, a radio and a TV, which all have different IR patterns. Then when you point you Wiimote on the phone painting, the Wii mote will see the pattern and tell your computer what you are pointing at. The computer will then activate the Twinkle (sip) on your computer and you can interface with it.. :-)

    Using the motion sensors to answer calls might be a bit awkward (some minutes into the clip).

    Actually it's alot better than most products on the market atm. Mainly because of the speed, it's insanely fast compared too some commercial options that only support one touch.. And if you look at many of the multi touch interfaces being done you will see that they almost always lag 0.1s or something...

    Won't work for a long while, AFAIK photoshop doesn't have multitouch support.

    You can get other kinds of data, it's just not that usefull as the x/y coordinates.

    Of course it's not precise, but still it does work if you want to track just one IR source. You need one that sends a constant amount if IR in all direction (lighter will work). It worked pretty well for me in the 30cm-90cm rangre..

    But using just x/y is just fine, and a lot more precise..

    When the internet gaming wasn't mainstream yet, there were alot of people theorizing in EDGE about how game play can work when anyone can just disconnect at anytime. This is basically the same thing just at a massive scale what happens if key persons in your web of trust[1] just leaves, or if things get boring.

    So the question is what keeps people go, from my own experience nationality is very important, and web site communities. But that's all in the article too.. ;-)

    Everyone says education is empowerment to the people, I think this is the first step to empower most people around the world. This is a step to help people/children easily communicate and play over large distances, talk and share ideas. You should take a million of these laptops and drop them on Lima, Peru, and see what happens. Imagine one million people using the computer to do new stuff, just producing new creative material, sharing, critizing.

    This is actually a tool that would allow these counties to get ahead of EU & US. Because this will empower children when they are most active at learning, at 9 years old you can learn alot, that will get us alot of creative people, writers, programmers and artist in a 4-9 years.

    The question is will these children need to learn english, or can they just create local economies, based on heir own language?

    I think you fail to understand what it takes to unlock a phone, if it really was that old as you say it's no wonder they had no rom upgrading kit available.. Maybe it sucks but it's very understandable..

    The thing is resolution, size and battery. I read ebooks on my 180x90 mobile phone so sure you can do it, it's just not what most people want.

    Sadly it's alost the most expensive of the devices as well. It works very well to read non DRM:d material on the Kindle and the eReader, it's just not http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobipocket sure it's better as DRM but not good enough.

    It's sad that you need to be administrator to install anythingon a machine. Mac OS and Gobolinux really are on to something, by not requiring the user to install programs as Admin. (though the .pkg of MacOSX are still over used).

    GPL v3 protects your right to tinker, and OLPC is supposed to have an anti theft feature, if it is in in the final version I don't know.
