Do we really need to know the sounds were calculated using a Linux cluster? Linux is popular enough in science now to leave that away.
And I'm sorry, but only the stone that was thrown in the water sounded convincing. I did like how they could add water to the already full container without it overflowing, though!
I would love to see Google Street View of the ocean floor. Who knows what we'll find down there... And it's easy for Google too; no complaints about privacy breach.
What is the problem? First people whined because open source was not used by many, and now people whine because it is used by many. It's never good, is it?
It's funny that I am now modded 'flamebait' while most of the people who replied to my post seem to agree with me. I'm glad Linux zealots still exist. They make the world a bit more fun. Apple zealots do that too BTW.
There simply is no benefit because PCs without Windows on them won't sell very well. Most people who buy computers barely know where to click and are totally confused by new operating systems. All they know is Windows, so that is what they will buy. It's very hard to get past that.
You are absolutely right. You sum up all the reasons why I gave up on linux after ten years and switched to the Mac. Finally a consistent environment and no hours of fiddling to get simple things working. I keep following the Linux world and now have Ubuntu in a virtual machine, and from what I see I guess indeed nothing will be done about Google's complaints.
O, and concerning your sig: I think piracy is not the way to change the attitude and practices RIAA. If you pirate music, movies, and whatever you will only help in getting more artists on the street and more crapware to be released, because there will be no money for good stuff. So stop pirating and try to come up with another, more sensible, solution! No watch me get modded to oblivion.
One of my friends recently bought a Samsung NC-10 with XP on it. We upgraded it to 2 GB of RAM instead of 1 GB. She is very happy that she can do more with it than with her old computer. Finally we can video chat using Skype without constant crashes and troubles. She runs OpenOffice on it, and all the Mozilla stuff with no problems. She even plays adventure games on it, thanks to the fact that it runs XP instead of Linux. For its small size it's a powerful computer.

Form the abstract: 'they are generally licensed with complete use rights and/or functionality that may be beyond the need or desire of the system purchaser.'
I think they made an important slip of the tongue here. They're always going on about how you buy a License to use the software, and not the software itself. And now in this patent application they speak of system purchaser. Interesting.
I don't think games always have to be fun. 'Fun' is such a shallow concept. Games can be entertaining, educational, emotional and other things without being 'fun'. As an example may I point you to a game about the Israel-Palestine conflict that hit me hard emotionally and opened my eyes to the circumstances people have to live in every day in some places in Israel? It's called Global Conflics: Palestine and does a very good job of giving an unbiased impression of the situation there.
You also didn't pay much attention. The parent was talking about the ability of the users of certain operating systems to recognize the fact that their computer was part of a botnet. That has nothing to do with the security of the OS.
Here in NL police can also put a tracking device on your car or moped without you knowing it. If you find it and destroy it you can be tried for destroying police property.
But in the end, is it really important, I always saw such things as things which distract people from the core of the message which over all this mumbo jumbo seems to be forgotten, and the message is one of peace, forgiveness, trying to help others and no violence!
The whole mumbo-jumbo is the reason why I quit believing in any god. If there was a god he would not have so many people suffer in his name. You could say that in a way the violence in the name of God or Allah is proof that they don't exist.
That is very interesting. Maybe they find evidence of the existence of Jesus, or maybe text about his life that were written when he was still actually on Earth.
Certainly not, but calling people idiots because they have difficulties with things you don't even think about is a bit arrogant IMO. I think the word 'clueless' describes beter how the average person experiences the technical world.
Do you read all the legal mumbo-jumbo befor clicking 'I accept' every time you are confronted with it?
They're not dumb, they just don't care. That's not the same, you know.
Luckily there are mp3 players that work better than the piece of crippleware that is the iPod.
But then it's still an achievement of historic proportions.

I don't often LOL because of a post, but you made it happen! Man, how did you come up with that?

That's because Google is smarter than Bing. Bing is not Google, you know ;).
I Binged (Bung?) and found myself, which indicates that Bing works well ;). I got approximately the same stuff as with Google.
What? Speak English please.

And don't forget, the laser cannons are attached to its head!
