Who is going to verify that a module you pull from github and use in your code does not have NSA backdoors? Now NSA no longer needs to send its employees to work at Microsoft to write backdoors - all they have to do is convince lazy programmers to reuse NSA modules with backdoors built in and I mean lazy in the best sense of the world - after all, all progress is the result of laziness. If everyone was hardworking we would all live in caves, walk everywhere and rub sticks to start fire.
Fact of the matter is as head of the DIA Flynn would have all the dirt on Comey so Comey was playing with fire by going after Flynn. I am waiting for Comey's dirt to come out. Remember Trump had been loyal to Comey about that "other thing" as per Comey's testimony. Of course Comey wouldnt have mentioned it but Trump backed him into a corner by reminding him that their may be tapes.
When Putin fines organizations in Russia for taking American money to influence Russian elections we call him a dictator. Now we are firing NSAs for talking to an Ambassador. What kind of regime are we running here?
In a world where the investigation itself is bogus and a way of manipulating an elected administration. If I was in Trump's position I would go nuclear. Arrest Comey under the official secrets act and hold him without bail as he is in possession of information which leaked could harm the National Security of the USA. In fact charge him with treason. One bureacrat politician sent to the chair will do more to drain the swamp in DC than anything else
This is ridiculous. The President can pardon anyone he wants for any crime including high treason. Where does the FBI director get the idea that he can investigate someone the President doesnt want him to? Even if the FBI proves Flynn guilty Trump can pardon him so its just a waste of public money and an attempt by a bureacrat to control a democratically elected President.
Well if they were not investigating Trump why couldnt he come out and announce that? Comey was trying to play cute. I think it went to his head that he was able to manipulate the election. He was trying to create a patronage relationship with the President by making Trump feel that Trump owes his job to Trump and anytime he steps out of line Comey will leak to the press and make it impossible for Trump to do his job. Well Trump called his bluff. I dont like Trump because he played to the racist lobby, but its about time the elected President ruled rather than appointed Washington insiders.
The real question is "Is Comey going to jail for violating the Official Secrets Act" The rest is a sideshow. Flynn spoke to the Russian Ambassador? Big deal. Its the NSA chiefs jobs to talk to foreign leaders and representatives and normal during the transition. He lied to Pence about it? Big deal . The VP is NOT the President and not Flynn's boss and he was not under oath. However Comey leaking a conversation with the President which took place in the White House? Definitely jail time if not a treason charge with a possible death penalty.
Apple just set up a Bangalore center this year to do the backend IT work it used to outsource to Infosys. Apple believes it can hire people cheaper than Infosys can
If the healthcare industry actually ran like the car industry insurance would be compulsory. The ACA tried to make insurance compulsory. The Republicans fought it in court and the only way to get the indidivdual mandate through was to disguise it as a tax and hence reducing its effectiveness. The Republicans and Insurance lobbyists sabotaged the ACA at every turn and Obama made a series of bad compromises which ended up with the ACA not really solving the problem and giving Republicans ammunition. It would have been more effective to go to single payer system with Medicare for all. This should have been accompanied by training of more doctors so as to introduce competition to the AMA cartel ( if needed let H1Bs practice medicine without recertification as long as their original college is certified). Also price controls on drugs - one make a cap of 1 million dollar as salary to be paid to any drug exec, 2 any drug which utilizes basic research from NSF grants has to pay 20% of revenue (not profit) into a fund which is used by the govt to subsidize drug costs for those who cannot afford them, 3 use compulsory licensing to introduce generics when a company is being a dick and trying to get oversized profits from a drug with no competition. Further the limitation of 1 million should also apply to Hospital execs. This would reduce costs , let more people access preventive care and better health. The saving from not losing days off to sick leave could even fund a paid family leave. Further not having to worry about health coverage would mean many more people could take risks by starting companies etc. For the idiots who will jump off buildings with parachutes instead of denying them insurance make sure hospital stays are not pleasant - spend the money on medicine not on providing five star rooms and comforts.
He might be taking a break so he can go into the next 2 hours of concentrated work . By sabotaging his break it means you have reduced the efficiency of his next 2 hours.
Loads of great Indian Computer folks work for outsourcing companies because outsourcing companies do their visas and give them a shot at the American Dream. Of course if they stick around after getting their GCs then questions on their competency start to arise. The model of the Indian Outsourcing companies is to get great folks (who would normally earn more than market wage) at market wage by doing their visas and GCs. They know the good people will leave but the process takes 6-10 years so they get 6-10 years of above market performance at market wages. The ones who dont prove themselves are sent back. Just imagine how good your job performance would be if the result of a bad appraisal was not just a missed promotion or a firing but a deportation. These folks live to work for 6-10 years. Once they get their GCs and move over to Product companies they have effectively 20 years of experience because they have been working 80 hour weeks for 10 years. No wonder they then outshine their peers who havn't had the immigrant experience. The average Indian is not smarter than the average American but the average Indian immigrant definitely is because there have been multiple levels of filtering to thin the herd. Its not surprising that the founders of Sun, the CEOs of Citibank, Google and Microsoft are all Indian immigrants.
Screwups can also happen because you did not outsource to the experts and instead tried to use your internal techs who dont understand DR and have never implemented it to try and setup the DR. Bonus points if the company got tax breaks for employing out of work non tech workers in an IT retraining program and had them do the DR. Outsourcing is not always the problem.
Thats why you always have a third site to be the tie breaker vote. The third site can be very simple - a PC in a managers office somehere. It is not meant to run any load. Just be a tie breaker and have independent power and internet connections to both Data centers. And regular check job should run to make sure the PC is up and running. It can be down for short periods just as long as you dont have the bad luck of having a DR shutdown AND restart during the time the PC is down. Shutdown itself will be fine as when one of the actual centers is down whatever the DR says goes. The vote is needed only when you restart the primary and need to resync.
They had an offsite DR. The DR was setup wrong and did not have the latest data so when they switched to it they started seeing wrong data and had to switch it off
Outsourcing critical functions to experts is good management or when you get sick do you try to do the surgery yourself? At one point company towns used to have company doctors. Now we have hospitals. Much better as a doctor working for the company will try to push you back to work. Same way in the past we had in house IT techs. Now its done by companies who specialize in running IT systems. Stop with your dream of being a company IT Tech in a company town.
Its harder to become a doctor due to unnecessary hoops the AMA makes people jump through. its not actually harder to do the job on a day to day basis. A doctor is mostly going through a long switch case or an embedded if then else of symptoms and diagnoses. Not much creativity or thinking required.
All you have done is prove my point. It isnt actually more difficult to do what a doctor does than do what an IT guy does. The AMA just creates an artificial shortage of doctors to keep incomes high by making people jump through unnecessary hoops to become a doctor. People all over the world learn to be doctors in 4-5 years after high school and they dont have student debt. Of course this does mean that they actually are studying in college rather than networking and building political capital which is what pre-meds do (their course load is pathetic just rehash of stuff that should have been taught in high school). The political capital helps later in life in keeping both parties under control so that they dont open up the profession.
Who am I to decide the futures of other people's children? We dont want a nanny state. If parents cannot give a leg up to their children what is the motivation to do well in life?
What you forget is that it is much tougher to be an IT professional than a doctor. A doctor is basically an if then else loop. Its the AMA which has protected the guild privileges of doctors that makes medicine expensive. No American wants to do a much tougher job for a much lesser salary. They would much rather become doctors , lawyers and real estate agents. IT work is something only those who have no choice will do - in short immigrants.
Marsupials Millenials. Whats it with Mxxxilas never wanting to leave the mother's basement/pouch

The real question is did he inhale? Apparently not though he seems to have drunk the Apple Coolaid.

VCs provide mentoring on how to raise money and hire people not on coding
