  1. Re:That sounds a bit strange to me on DARPA Developing 'Combat Zones That See' · · Score: 1

Not quite - most of the development in that area has to do with small standalone "motes" that can be spread, for example, from a plane and use wireless ad-hoc networks to communicate and form a sensor grid.

  2. Interesting... on Diablo2: Apocalypse Now! · · Score: 2

Does this bug have any relevance to other Blizzard games? (could it be used to hack starcraft, etc, accounts too?)

You would think blizzard would have some sort of database backup that they could recover for this type of event. They have so much riding on the information, it would seems silly to only have one copy.

  3. M14 another leap in the right direction on Mozilla Milestone 14 Awaits · · Score: 1

M14 is beginning to show some definate speed increases, as well as the slow disappearance of the many smaller less-important bugs that ran rampant through earlier milestones. It is still clearly a beta product, but it's reaching it's final state very quickly. It may not yet be stable and complete enough for every typical user, but i'm using it right now as i type this, and i would definately reccomend it to anyone with interest in the future of web browsing.

  4. It had some interesting topics in it... on X-Files FPS Episode · · Score: 1

I normally don't watch the X-Files simply because i find a lot of the plot lines shallow and uninteresting... but last night i got sucked in more or less because of my interest in 3d-FPS.

I think it made an honest (although not completely successful) attempt to raise discussion about senseless violence. It fell somewhat short in this area because the only deaths in the game were from the game it's self, not the result of the players going out and reinacting the scenes in real life.

As for the technical aspect of the show, I found some of the ideas intriguing(sp?). Specifically, i was interested in the idea of the electrical shock used to simulate injury to players without actually harming them. Anyone know how realistic an idea like this actually is?

On a final note, I'd just like to say that i thought having mulder disappear into the game it's self was a tad too imaginative... I think a little bit better plot development could have been done in that area to make it more realistic.

  6. Problems with NSI? on Who is the Best Registrar? · · Score: 1

For a couple months now I have been attempting to edit the configuration of a domain i registered with NSI... however every time i attempt to logon i get an error message saying that the system is temporarily unavailable.

Has anyone else had this problem? How else do i go about changing the settings for my domain (to change the nameservers, etc)?

  7. Not the end of the world. on Dave 'Zoid' Kirsch Leaving id Software · · Score: 1

Zoid leaving id, while definately not the best news ever, is not the end of the world for all the fans of his work... He is obviosly keeping his feet in the gaming community, and I get the feeling he will continue to contribute to Quake*, CTF, and other related projects that we've all come to love. On a side note, what is known about this company he is going to work for? I've never heard of them.
