  1. D2 on Diablo II: Knickknacks Nicked · · Score: 1

Eh... it's just a game. Not like it's a big deal or anything. Besides I play off realms and back up the save directory in the D2 directory so I don't loose any character information for single or open battlenet and I have just as much if not more fun. Thats why I'm kinda miffed about realm only items, but thats another topic, sorta. So if they don't work or disappear it's no loss to me. ;)

  2. Re:History, etc on Five Years of Quake · · Score: 1

I remember my old Color Computer 2 from Radio shack had a wire framed first person type game. It was called Dungeons of Dageroth... Basically 5 levels where you had to use keyboard commands to move about and stuff. But it was 2D characters in a 3D environment and everything was wireframed. I ran that on 16K of memory and an ultra modern 13 button TV set that had knobs to set the channel frequency on each button. Loved the torches to see but the best was the smiling blob monster. :)

  3. Arcades on Midway Quits Coin-Operated Business · · Score: 1

I remember back in the late 70's and 80's when there was this one place that housed a HUGE collection of pinball machines and cool arcade games. It was in the Park City mall in Lancaster PA before they renovated it to the cheesy 50 cent game house they have there now. The old arcade had like atleast 2 or 3 rows of 20 pinball machines. There were also some cool arcade games like Zaxxon and Pac Man and stuff. But there was one game that was a Fireman type game and it had an actual water gun in the machine. You shot the fire in the background house that was this plastic or metal painted popup and got points for that. Dunno if that had anything to do with Midway but arcades are definatly not what they used to be. Fun, simple, and cheap. :)

  4. Clean cars. on GM Investing in Fuel Cells · · Score: 1

I'd buy a brand new car for the first time if it was a fuel cell car. That clean driving does appeal to me, but until then I'll stick with the 20 year old klunkers. They may not be as fuel efficient but they are cheap to buy, cheap to fix, and when you do buy them they don't usually go over $10,000 and require a loan to pay off. Whats really the killer is that most of these new cars are made for midgits.... there are some larger ones out there but 99% are a pain for me to get in to when they are fuel efficient. 6'5" doesn't fit easly in to a tiny little jetta or rice burner. :)

  5. Re:What's the problem? on "Smart Tags," Round Two · · Score: 1

One question I have to pose about adding links is what if one of those links gets your website in trouble or enrages the regular visitors to your site because they saw a smart tag link they did not like? People could blame that on the site and not the smart tag (knowing how dumb people can be.) I would say you would need some form of control of how your site flows. Unauthorized links would take that control away from the site developer. Unauthorized links could also destroy the purpose of a web site and make it quiet confusing. Imagine a pro life website suddenly having a smart tag link to a Planned Parenthood website. Tell me that won't tuch off the fire and brimstone.

Entertaining yet somewhat truthful. All the pieces are there for it to happen. Just depends on what the person running the show decides to do.

I have to agree.. I've loved Mandrake's ease of use since I've been stuck with some form of broken windows since Dos 2.11. The 8.0 distrobution is the best I've used yet on my P2 400 system. Wish Dell warrenties wern't so flakey about OS changes or I'd use it on my new laptop. :P ~~Behold the flying Cow with a railgun!~~

  8. First time Language on Best Way to Get Kids Started in Programming? · · Score: 1

I myself started out with MS GWBasic... those were the days. Now I'd actually concider starting my kid out with Java. Granted it's no basic, but if done right it could make a great first language. Thats just my personal feeling, also since Java can run under Windows and Linux. You won't be limiting them to Windows first time around because Java is supposed to be platform independent, although there are always problems there. :)
