Related situation: You're walking down the street with a backpack. No cause to search your pack. Someone tells an officer you have drugs / a bomb / a stolen baby in your pack. Now there's cause to search.
Amazingly similar to the situation the early American colonies were in, isn't it? The Crown would only accept taxes in British currency, which the Americans didn't have. So the money lenders would lend or sell British currency at extortionist rates for people to use to pay their tax debt with.
What most people fail to realize about this is that the analogy is backwards. You're starting with the assumption that a dollar has value, but it's just a fancy serialized copy on a piece of paper. It has no actual value. Way back when the dollar was backed by metal it had the value of that metal, but no longer. Paying with dollars is like paying with multiple copies of the same song.
Speaking as a professional CNC programmer, I'd say the touch screen interface is lacking for the application. Most CNC programmers I know, myself included, use two of the largest screens they can get their hands on to maximize screen real estate. There's an awful lot of data that you have to get from the computer to your head. We also tend to use Space Pilots and the like for view control, and high end trackballs (or mice for some) for fast but precise selection (no, not that line, I meant this one!) I also prefer to set a bunch of hotkeys and use keyboard access to menu commands because then I can keep my mouse pointer close to the geometry I'm selecting, which makes it much faster. I can then get rid of most of the toolbars and free up more screen area. I think trying to do CAM on a pad would be an exercise in frustration.
i-devices have unique serial numbers, sim numbers, etc. These are registered with service providers. It should be a very simple matter to identify the true owner of a device by making a single phone call.
A friend of mine in California had his house broken into. His iPad and a shotgun were stolen. He tracked the phone to the trunk of a car, told the police, and they did nothing.
True until you figure out that you can click and hold until the enemy is dead. Helps with teleporters too since you don't lose target as long as you keep the button down.
They selected their target market as different from the target markets of Diablo and Diablo II. Rather than trying to make the best gaming experience they can, they're looking to maximize profits through real money item trading. So their current target markets are the players who want to buy success, and the professional item farmers who supply them. I do not want to play with either type of person, and even having them around takes all the fun out of the game for me.
The government has legally redefined the word "terrorism" to specifically exclude government actions. It would be like saying "murder" means "any unjustified killing carried out by anyone who is not acting under orders of the government."
I call BS on that. The public defenders office will NOT represent you if the court claims you can afford an attorney. Last I looked into it the court claims you can afford an attorney ($20k for a basic trial) if you have more than $45k / year income.
My wife once asked "Doesn't the prosecution bear the burden of proof, like it says in the Constitution?" The judge replied "This is traffic court, the Constitution doesn't apply here."

"But we never received your returned item. You owe us $600."
Fair? Ha! This is the US "Justice" System we're talking about, fair has nothing to do with it!
Except that Canada technically isn't one of the United States. It's more like Puerto Rico, or the District of Columbia.
Not that there's a difference, really.
You: "I swear, that drawing of a girl is 18."
Officer: "She looks 17 to me, I'm bringing you in."
You: Draws sketch of girl holding up drivers license showing age 18.
Officer: "Well OK then, but I'm watching you."
Should drawings of killings be considered the same as murder?

When voice recognition gets a little better writing a thesis or book might actually work ok on a tab. Now CAD/CAM will be a little tougher.

Lol. I actually don't remember if it was an iPad or an iPhone.
You mean if I tell the police "I saw a guy take my expensive thing and he brought in in there" that's not enough for a search warrant?
And my dad wore the shirt out on the way out.
Kudos to your dad. You probably made the wise decision.

12,000 years ago there was a rich body of literature concerning every facet of society. Then they invented copyright law.

The more you outlaw, the less meaning your laws have.
Nice. That's sig-worthy. Bumper sticker even.
Sure they can. Jail is big business; why do you think it's filled with pot heads?
Because the government says it doesn't count as terrorism if THEY're the ones doing it. That's basically the new legal definition.

So why are prosecutors rewarded for a high conviction record?

I've had plenty of rich people pretend to give me a break but then give me the shaft instead. Guess how they got rich?
