    What is holding all these technologies back?

    The possibility of being flogged for your password? The fact that your ISP can simply drop encrypted bits? You still need a reliable and secure medium to transmit. That does not exist yet. The real obstacles are political, not technical.

    We have incredibly cheap energy in the form of coal and oil but it's just not cheap enough.

    It only appears cheap because it's "automagically" delivered to your doorstep. The processes are hidden from view. But don't believe for a second that, in real human costs, that's it's any cheaper than the other methods.

    Very good stuff, but for some, it's kind of like expecting a web page designer or java programmer to understand machine code. Our dot gov sites are definitely some of the best stuff on the net for anybody looking for an education. For that I'm grateful... tax money very well spent

    Quite simple really... It's because we let them. The ones that resist are a tiny minority, and doing so only raises the question of, "what are you trying to hide?" amongst the rest.

    But you know what really sucks? There's no real, physical write protection on these USB sticks, so there's no way for me to protect it from an infected machine. Every time I come home from a job. I have to clean the damn thing.
