But I have sailed from San Fran to Hawaii, Annapolis to Bermuda, Rhode Island, and Florida, and delivered a 19 foot sail boat from Nort Carolina to New Jersey. Plus I spent a few weeks on a Navy destroyer at sea as a contractor supporting missile defense tests.
Now, that is not dodging crab pots and hooks on 35 foot swells while freezing my ass off, but it is enough to say that yes, indeed, SaS sounds like heaven.... esp the unplugged part.
It is yet to see how effective this law will be. Quick research reveals that currently virtually no elextronics adhere to this law, and that it may cause huge reliability issues (tin solder issues).
Tin is also not a great thing to have in your water, BTW.
Actually, that is what will probably happen to the stuff.
I do much of this recycling myself.
The steel cases/covers can be recycled rather easily. 15 minutes with a screw driver and hammer. Atleast I can be reasonably sure the steel will probably be recycled when I toss it in the steel pile at the county dump (however that may well be shipped to Japan only to return with a Toyota emblem on it.) Same with the plastics. Batteries in the battery bin. But the mobo's, harddrives, CRT's....
We do have a eCycle program in this county - but it is 40 miles away and I bet that stuff is just going to go to China.
TV's, old computers, harddrives, broken VCR's... I don't know what to do with the stuff.
If you think one of these so called certified e-cyclers is not simply shipping the stuff of to China, think again. Every report I have seen on these outfits has traced the donated stuff overseas.
Even though it was probbaly intended to be a troll, it is worthy of discussion.
As a responsible software development shop, you should know that you absolutely do NOT want any version of your software floating around that attacks a users machine.
All I need to hear is that your Application 2.1 will say, format a harddrive and delete all partitions... and I woould not touch it with a 10 foot pole.
So. If you want to completely destry your customer base - go ahead and pull such a stunt.
Police our towns. Carry our mail. Fix our roofs (well, I do that myself, along with most of home repairs, but most techies don't). Mow our lawns. Sell us food. Deliver our packages. Install our furnaces. Paint our houses. Fix our cars. Deliever our babies. Sue our neighbors. Grow our food. Pick up our trash. Sell us beer. Insulate our attics. Varnish our hardwood floors. Sell us hardwood floors. Chop down the trees for our hardwood floors. Teach our children.
But then again, one can always hope that GE and friends will decide to use overpaid American workers with bloated heathcare premuims due to obesity and simply deal with the environmental regulation as a matter of course........or they could simply work Chinese laborers until they drop and pollute China with impunity and get a kickback from the shippers.
I can hear the collective "hmmm" and chin rubbing coming from the board room already.
at least at my company.
When on the road we end up working the Friday, and occaisionally here at home too. Oh well.

Screw your email.
Sounds like heaven.
and ignore the frustrated virgins who post such tripe.
An axe to chop down a tree... a nose dropper to clear my sinuses, as my grandpappy used to say.
Perhaps they are referring to the recession that has butt raped my kids college savings plans, my 401K, as well as my investments.
I am however, still working. One bright spot in all of this.

However it is a good first step.

The current VC-25's were bought used. IIRC one of them was an Air India 747.

You wouldn't be so smug if it had worked.... which it does every day in this great U.S. legal system.
Lawyers. No worse than the worst of us.
And nothing more.
Spend the money by planing some trees.
That's fine... but you should know that the Israeli queen is made out of C4 and rigged to explode the moment it is touched.
...devote my life to Open Source. FreeBSD in particular.
No real reason why FBSD. I just remember really liking Lehey's 'FreeBSD.'
Oh well, it's back to Visual C++ for me...
Now if Fedora would only still provide CD ISO's for their older versions the world would be perfect...
Check for yourself and see....
If not, then feel free to have at it. Sounds like a nice contribution that you could make.
You think the Crab People are pissed now? Just wait until you tap into their giant steamer.
After all, he didn't even MENTION extinction level event planning in his campaign.
Powering the entire US for a few decades might use all of 1% or so of the energy down there.

I wanted to post this thought, but figured I be modded down for beng too obvious. HOw the author could overlook this point is beyond me.
I just did this with an led flashlight and it seems to work fine.
Now, once someone puts more than 45 seconds of thought into the problem, a more elegant solution will surely be found.
