Guy Kawasaki has not run the MacEvangelist in a very long time, AND when he DID he was NOT in the employ of APPLE, you shmucko liar. It is now run by one Shane Anderson, and like his forerunner (Guy Kawasaki) in charge of the MacEvangelist site and email list he has exactly NO paid ties to Apple, Inc.
fine article... one thing was conspicuous due to its absence; nowhere in the article was there any mention of MacOS, not at all surprising... not that MacOS (particularly MacOS X) is some sort of hardened concrete bunker, it does not exist in a vacuum and if a Mac box is connected to the internet... well... but it sure as hell is more secure than WindowsWhateverNumberOrSuffix
"Systems are engineered to break down after 3 years." er, nope... not Apple boxes... all of mine still work, most have the original equipment in them... oh, sure there are some parts that were upgraded in them back when they were almost new, say, three years old LOL
I am thinking of that old cartoon, maybe it was a Popeye cartoon, in which there was a steer's skull next to a waterhole in the desert (presumably in a desert in the USA) and Popeye wondered aloud whether it the water was potable... he decided aloud that it was and the steer's skull then spoke the words, "yoooooouuuuu'll beeeeee soooooorrrry!" As so shall we all, when what Orwell predicted (and Katz reflects on) becomes a concrete and all-encompassing reality. Hope your kids have a nice life! Doubt they will, unless you are very wealthy and manage to hold onto that wealth and pass it on to them, the odds are stacked against your progeny. Let us not forget that 90% of the wealth of the USA is in the hands of 2% of the population of the USA, which leaves the other 98% of the population scrabbling for an ever-diminishing piece of the pie, and that is incontrovertible hard and cold fact.
"how gay" ---- How trite, and how lame... And no, you ignorant fool, I would not post filth like the self-styled "JewHater" does. You are quite blind to the fact that I am trying to draw him out of his mindless screed and get him to examine his circular (circular in this case is synonymous with pointless) reasoning. Nuances and subtleties are lost on you just as they seem to be lost on "JewHater".
they chumped me right off the bat, i signed up for $39.95/mo and they never honored it... i need my DSL and have only one other option (Verizon) so, i am stuck... and NO, AOHellSlimeWarmer Roadrunner is not an option for me even though it is quite available in my area...
Windows PCs Require Fans, So Apple Is Best Bet for Quiet
May 24 - 08:46 ET: In his latest column, Walter Mossberg discusses the noise -- or in this case, lack thereof -- of PCs. "Apple's iMac and G4 Cube were specifically designed without a fan and are much quieter than any Windows machine I've used," says Mossberg in the article. "...I'd strongly suggest you buy one of these Macs, even though you might have to replace some of your peripheral hardware."

you poor slobs... i can't hear either fans nor HD's (i do use ONLY IBM HD's)... of course, i use Mac minitowers (G3, G4)... heh heh... and yes, my hearing is quite unimpaired.

you dolt! that is my point completely... it is a function of nationalism that keeps people from going where they'd like to earn their daily bread... fuck nationalism/jingoism... and what is citizenship, i say again, but an accident of birth... AND how do you know i am not in some country other than the one you may SUPPOSE i am in, and earning my living???
and just what might "the nature of citizenship" be but an accident of birth?? puhleez, no jingoistic rants, no flagwaving, no nationalistic BS, thanks!

sheesh... as IF Mac OS X were for lamebrains like yourself! Don't look now, but the overwhelming majority of Mac users has always been the creative, literate type... you dolt.
NO ONE IS FORCING anyone to install these updates... Apple is doing the best job possible in providing their users more refinements as they become available, you need not install these upgrades as they come out... indeed, you can skip one or two and the latest one will update Mac OS X completely, just as if you had applied each previous update... shove off, FUDSTERS!
yes, he was a Mac user and a certified "Apple Master"... of course! but, i digress... i met him once and he was considerate enough to spend the time to answer all my questions... props to Mr. Adams, RIP

DSL era over? er, not! DSL will survive, and you contradict yourself in your post in that you say DSL is over then in the next sentence decry the fact that a behemoth like Verizon wants to control the DSL market... Why would Verizon bother to control a dying market? surely they are more savvy than that (as much as i despise them, i must give the goddamned devil his due). further, you go on to state that the only DSL providers that will survive are the ones with horizontally-integrated market penetration, so DSL era is dead eh? not a chance.
