I always sorta felt that they should do something like this but combine all the sim games together and get them to interact. Say for instance everyone starts out as a regular sim in an apartment. As you gain money/fame/whatever you could open up a SimTower for an office building or a Sim Theme Park. For those of us who liked it (I'm one of them, Yea I know the shame) You could set up a SimAnt colony in someone's backyard and have your problems all be real-time interlinked to that guys The Sims back yard. The basic codes are all there but the connecting code would be a pain in the donkey.

I agree with you that CD sales are up because the economy is doing pretty well. Never said that Napster is boosting record sales (tho I would venture to say that music sales have probally broadened (different bands by more people)). I do pay for my own stuff. I Argue that I am stealing. First grounds being that I am not taking away anything from the artist. If I steal your TV set you cannot enjoy your TV any more to watch cartoons. If I copy your CD or convert it to MP3 format and download it you still have your CD and can still enjoy your music. Not stealing.

Second grounds that I am not stealing or in my opinion engaging in anything but fair use under copyright laws is that I do support my artists. I own around 150+ CD's in my collection. A lot of them from the bands that I think are doing a great job. Looking thgrough my collection now most of them are from non-Riaa members. Alternative tentacles, Henry Rollins studio ect. There are only 2 or three bands that I have CD's for That are involved in this lawsuit. Now I go to my hard drive and look at the music there. Ohhhh look. Low and behold, I download the same music that I buy. Wow look at that collection of live songs from the Dead kennedies that were taped from thier last show ever. Where would I buy those. Or maybe I should fly to Germany to get these German versions of Sisters of Mercy songs. Or look. Copies of bootlegs in my wifes Jane's Addiction collection. I do pay for my own stuff.

I think that just about everyone is missing what the *cough* means. It is really pretty simple. The RIAA is claiming that Napster is causing people to steal thier music and that they are losing all this money from stolen and pirated music. If what the RIAA says is true they should be showing a certian drop in sales for every 100 times that Napster is downloaded. In fact Napster has consistently gotten more and more popular and CD and other music sales are at an all time high. Therefore the RIAA (and MPAA as a correlary) lawsuits are not about music piracy or "making sure the artists get thier just dues." It's about mega-corperations monopoly on the music that we are allowed to hear. The RIAA wants to keep thier monopoly. The popularity of Napster proves that they are not keeping up with the times of thier own bussiness and therefore should loose that self same monopoly.

I'd like to throw in that I am a Napster user (a heavy one). I do not use a college network to get my music (have DSL.) Also I do not consider what I download to be music piracy. CD's that I particularly enjoy I go out and buy. Most of what I get from Napster falls into one of a few categories.

Live music that cannot be found on CD
"B" Sides that cannot be bought any more in the stores
Artists that I have not listened to before and want to try out before I plunk 13-20$ on a CD.
Artists who are not on major labels that I have not been able to find thier CD's yet

If you want to say that I am stealing go ahead.

Sorry for the rambling. It is still early where I am ;)

These things are sweet man. Yes the resolution does go that high and text is still readable if you have good eyesight. These systems use the ATI mobil rage chipset with either 8 or 16MB of video RAM. The chipset includes anti-aliasing technology. This means that you Can run it at 800x600 or whatever you want and it will still look good. Also there is no more problem with viewing DVD videos on both an external monitor and the lcd. (ATI rages with 4MB video ram would get a black picture on external monitor). Other than the processor, lcd and video card these are exactly like the original Inspiron 5000's. Now for what everyone wants to know. How often do they break (i do tech support for Dell.) Well the 5000e is a bit too new for me to make a solid judgement on it but I almost never get a call for the 5000's. Maybe one or 2 a week. Very good reliability. No stress fracture issues that I know of. Well made machines. As a side note I am not in sales. I am in tech support. I'm about as unbiased of a person out there who has actually seen one of these systems already ;)

Turns ouut that I was diagnosed with Cluster migraines. 1 out of ten males in america is afflicted with this particular form of migraine. Most of the time there is some sort of trigger on them. For me (and several other people I have contacted) it happens to be florecent lighting that will most often trigger these. Now some will probally say "oh poor baby, you have a headache..." or some other shite like that. Obviously these people have never had a migraine. Ask a doctor and s/he will tell you that the pain is about equal to the birth of Athena. So the next time someone asks you to turn off your flourecent light please listen to them. They are probally going through some very excruciating pain or are trying to avoid it.

I believe I sow it posted earlier that you can ask to be put off of a telemarketers list and this is true but you must send them a letter. (IANAL tho but this is what a lawyer friend of mine said.) However there is a much easier and more fun way to combat this then a noterized letter. When a telemarketer call you keep them on the phone for as long as possible. Phone time takes money. On the scale of a telemarketing company an average rise of 30 seconds per call will just kill that companies profits. So talk to the telemarketer. Pretend that you are interested. Make fun of them whatever but KEEP THEM ON THE LINE!!!. I've taken to saying "Hey just one second while I get the head of the household on the line" Then I put the phone down for about a minute and change my voice. Tell them that I don't handle that and they need to talk with someone else. Put them on hold agian and so on. After about a year of doing this and other tactics (inculding asking to be off of thier mailing list) I can now say that I get about 1 unsolicited call a month. now I just hang up on them because I don't feel like ruining the poor persons day and i have won the war.

Why must there be a quanta of gravity. While I freely and fully admit that there must be a "flat" surface for space to be relitively curved to there is still no reason for a quantum of gravity. Yes, there are quantums of light and even matter but gravity doesn't "need" them. Now there does have to be a quantum of space which is best explained (currently) by string theory. While string theory is the best current explanation that we can come up with it has largly been debunked. Not because of any internal inconsistancy but because there is not any observable evidence. Also it seems to hit or miss on it's predictions. Sometimes it predicts and sometimes it don't. Now I am not a quantum physicist to be able to make a completly educated call on this but i do try to keep up as much as I can. String theory is HIGHLY controversial right now. Not all quantum theorists hold it to be true. Furthermore, from what I can get at a library, it seems that the string theorists can't even agree in all places. Until there are observations to back up the mathamatical theory it cannot be trusted as a model of our universe. Wish I had my books on this with me so I could do some quotes. Ah well. back to the library. ;)

  14. Gravitrons do not exsist. on Anti-Gravity Research Confirmed · · Score: 1

Gravitrons do not exist in a Einstienian model of the universe. One of the proofs of reletivity completely explained gravity without the need of ANY PARTICLES. Gravity is explained by the bending of space. Light curves in a gravity well (from our perspective) because it is taking the shortest possible route from point A to Point B. Conceptually it is like a great circle on the globe. An airplane flying from New York to San Francisco flys in a straight line from it's own point of view. Seeing the path drawn from space we will see that the planes course actually takes it around canada in a great arc. Relitivity means that both view points are right from thier frame of referance. This was the main beauty of Einstienian physics. There is no need for a "force" of gravity. Space is merely curved.

While a patent on the human genome should not be given I think that the company has every right in the world to charge people for the fruits of its research. To use the bird anology before, while you could not charge people for using a bird in art you can charge people for buying your book with the information on the bird.

Also I would like to point out that this would not stop anyone from re-doing the research themselves and using the information from their own research in any way shape or form.
