Did you want to do this real-time? If you do you may have to look into SCSI.
As for the cheap solution, I would still go with a SCSI burner, and a big ass IBM HD
In my opinion anyone that runs wireless in a production network with sensitive data should be shot!
Wireless is a great tool, and I would recomend WEP to people just so someone dosent snoop on you network. But how long does it take to break the WEP 128? I don't know. but my best guess it that eather with good hardware or some time it can be done easly if you know what your doing. I have wireless at home and I haven't turned on WEB becouse it seems to be a pain for me. What is the worst someone can do? Change the IP address on my accsess point? I have a USB connection for it. Use my interet connection? Go ahead.
Using a new technology is a secure network is not a good idea.
Sony and Nokia need to get together and make the open source (hardware wise atleast) and then they will squash MS, but the question stays, how will they make money?
Don't think of Microsoft as a software giant. Think of it as a Marketing Giant.
Does anyone know of something like this in Windows? This is a great example why I recomend Linux to people. Community. People willing to help. Logon to IRC and ask, someone will help, search google for your problem and you'll find a answer or at least a clue.
Try to search "Windows NT unknown error" on google!
They say that 60% of users still run the old versions, I would say that is true. I have been to a lot of companys here in Germany and most of them run Office 97, why? What's new in Office 2000? nothing specail, what's new in XP? nothing special, newer GUI, more web crap... I tested the beta version of Office 2002, to tell you the truth I found nothing that would want me to spend the $300 or so to upgrade. I did not try the voice becouse sound was not installed, but from what I heard that is not any good.
Back to my point, what can you add more into a office suite? MS Office 97 has everything I would need. How many people do you know that write VB software in Word? The average user types up a report with pictures formats it and prints. Office 2000 does it a little smother but that is about it. I could understand if the upgrade costed under $30 or so, but I think Office upgrade costs around $200 or so (correct me if I'm wrong)
So my question to MS, why should I spend $239 to upgrade???
As with all these wireless PDA's and phones, they do us no good unless they can talk to eachother. I realy hope that bluetooth will kick off. I would realy hate to see someone like MS or Intel fuck it all up by introducing it's own standard and delaying technology another 3 years. If my PDA can't download the addressbook from my laptop then get my phone to dial the number then I still think it's behind. As the technology advances we should all advance the "global wireless infrastucture".
Microsoft released in a press conference last week that Windows XP and Office XP will be able to communicate with aliens without a problem. This feture will only be in the OuterSpace edition+. More information is at www.microsoft.com/windowsxp
I think that distros should be alowed to charge for the binary. But I feel that the source should be on a free server. After all, how many people can compile an entire distro? I have to ask for help when installing a RPM! Paying those few bucks will help out the bandwith.
I have a IBM 600 and I realy like it. The thing is loud as hell thou, After I upgraded my hard drive it ran very quite for about 2 months, now it runs loud again. Both hard drives are IBM travelstarts.
I wonder if AOL or MSN does this? I kind of think this would be a good idea if it send info on speed, monitor resolution, and other good info that could make sites load faster or have a more personolized content. After all, cookies do similar things.
You can rate all you want, but the real question is who will enforce it, and what will the punishment be for selling to those not allowed to have it.
You can tell stores that you will do this and that, but the guy working at the store can care less. Will you expect him to check ID cards for a game? I understand alcohol or cigarettes becouse they can do harm.
It realy anoys me that people with no jobs go and complain about everything, then the working people don't have time to settile things out becouse the non-working people are in courts suing and on TV companing all day.
I agree to the fact that games should be rated for violent contenet, but stores should not be punished for not enforcing the ratings. Parents should be the ones that should do that.
"Space.com is reporting that the National Imagery and Mapping Agency (NIMA) believes they've located the Mars Polar Lander, intact on it's landing legs."
I bet you the just found a rock that looks like the lander.
I think the games are too expensive - spending a $1.00 on 5 minutes of a game, then by the time you figure out the feel you spent $5.00
I see less and less people at the games, it's easyer now to get a Dreamcast or PS2 and play all you want, and now they include modems and internet connections it's better that the arcades.
I still think the best computer entertament is LAN games, get 4 PC install Hidden&Dangrouse and snipper your friends down. Such a good felling when you hit the CTRL and the next thing you hear is "AH SHIT!!!"

Snap I think makes 1U servers, if your looking into storage
I know people who don't even keep backups!

Word of advice: Don't get a Hotmail or AOL account! You thought deleting spam was a pain in the ass...
I wonder how that Nokia Game unit will sell.

I found a reseller that is selling one for just under $500 with the adapter here.

If they can't get somthing so simple as this, can you imagin the holes that will be found in the Windows XP registration system?
Adds a new meening to collisions!
This reminds me of the saying, "Everything has advanced but toilet paper..." Well everything has advanced in computers but the cooling fan.
Well maby exept the IDE cables, but hey bluetooth is coming out!
Come to prove that their are a lot of sick people. I don't know if this will grow or fall in popularity with the Internet.

If The Sims is so real, how come I don't get a load of cash when I type in "klapaucius" into a ATM machine????
